Fall

She watched him as he walked away,
And wondered why "I love you"
Wasn't enough to make him stay.
Now her world is sad and blue.

He feared to love her would be to fall
So with nothing more than an anguished goodbye
He threw her heart against the wall
And without looking back, walked out of her life.

She thinks about him now and then,
And hopes to God he's doing fine.
She thinks of his smile, and remembers when,
She loved him, once upon a time.

He grasps the bars on his window.
Without the drugs, he can't think at all.
Why he's here, he doesn't know.
He just regrets that he didn't fall.
