Epiphany

You turn back around and find
Nothing is the same.
The world is upside-down.
Is it better or is it worse?
All you see is turmoil.
How could it have changed so fast?
You only turned away for a second�
In the blink of an eye, everything went wrong.
Or did it go right?
How are you supposed to know?
You only turned away for a second�
What happened to your perfect life?
Where did everyone go?
No one cares anymore.
How could this be?
Everything is such a mess.
You only turned away for a second�
What made you turn away in the first place?
Did your precious mirror shatter?
Did you look into it and see something
That shouldn't have been there?
What were you really looking for?
What did you expect to find?
A tender smile?  A human touch?
Something to erase the pain of reality?
Did you really think they�d feel sorry for you?
You only turned away for a second�
It's still no excuse.  You can't turn back time.
The hourglass doesn't unwind.
Suddenly you turned around
And your fantasy world imploded in your face.
Suddenly you turned around
And your perfect world became a not-so-perfect hell.
And everything made sense.
It was entirely your fault.
You loved your exalted mirror more than life itself.
I can't believe you turned away.
You led the life of royalty.
You were the epitome of perfection.
But suddenly you turned around,
And, what's this?  You were normal again.
God forbid, you became one of us.
Welcome to the real world.
Joke's on you.
And you only turned away for a second�
