Product Review on Nappy Rash Cream
Nappy rash is a common problem with our newborns' sensitive skin and their long hours of having to wear diapers, With more and more brands in the market, which should you put your money on? Our four mothers tell you.

PUREEN NAPPY RASH CREAM
$3.90 at Shop N Save, Carrefour, Kiddy Palace, Tom Et Stefanic, leading shops and pharmacies

TK: The cream was very thick with residual bits in it and I found that a lot comes out with each squeeze, resulting in wastage. But it was quite effective.

ET: The cream gave a slightly sticky feeling.

D H: I
found this very thick and not very smooth and it took about three days for the nappy rash to disappear. There was no scent. SS: It was quite effective, I didn't see any rash during those few days, but I found it a bit oily and it didn't have any fragrance.

DRAPOLENE CREAM
$3.30 at NTUC supermarkets, Guardian pharmacies and other retail outlets

TK: Its effectiveness on Michelle was average. It has a medical scent and a smooth texture.

ET: I like the smooth and moist texture - it's like a moisturiser, but non-greasy, which is good. It was effective for preventing nappy rash. But the smell is a bit too clinical.

DH: It reduced redness very fast and cured nappy rash. But I found it a bit oily and it didn't seem to have a smell.
SS: It was smooth and easy to apply. Rashes were gone after two applications.

JOHNSON N JOHNSON BABY DIAPER RASH CREAM
$3.50 at all leading pharmacies and shops.

TK: It's quite smooth with no residual bits, and was effective on Michelle. It was easier to control the amount squeezed out.

ET: It's very effective. It really clears up rashes. Neutral smell. Smooth texture.

DH:
I think it's suitable for sensitive skin. There's no smell. It got rid of nappy rash very quickly. I applied at in the morning and that night, there was visible improvement to the rash.

SS: There was a very plain smell. I would have liked a special fragrance. But it was quite effective.

MOTHERCARE BABY NAPPY CREAM
$8.50 at
Mothercare outlets

TK: This is my favourite. I found the fragrance refreshing. Because it's in a tub, I could control the amount I applied on Michelle without wasting. It also worked well on my baby. After one to two applications, the rashes on my baby were gone.

ET:
Very nice fragrance. Smooth texture as well, and it's effective. But it's a bit pricier and I prefer a tube, easier to use.

DH:
The texture is smooth and it smells nice. It's not oily and cures nappy rash very fast. It's'dermatologically-tested' tool which is safer for babies. I like the hypoallergenic feature of the cream.

SS: A very nice scent. The skin felt like it had an extra coating, which was all right. But Xue-Er had rashes even after the second use. I continued applying but rashes still persisted.

SUDOCREM ANTISEPTIC HEALING CREAM
$15 at Mothercare outlets

TK: This cream is a multipurpose cream. The label says it can even treat acne! Although I found the fragrance okay, my mother found it pungent! But it didn't seem able to treat my baby's rashes.

ET: It has a very strong antiseptic smell and I found it greasy.

DH: Smooth texture but it had a very medicated smell and didi't get rid of nappy rash at all.

SS: It smelled like hair gel. The cream was very thick, very sticky and felt a little unnatural.
