After service on Thursday the 21st of May, 1977, after receiving Jesus as my Lord and Savior, some young people approached me. They were very happy I was now a new Christian, what they call a born again Christian. They seemed eager to let me know of another place I could go where Jesus was moving by His Spirit. They explained that it was called Christ Center Ministries, a street ministry, where Christians would meet at a store front building to be taught about the things of God, and to grow in grace and power and to have an opportunity to go out in the streets and tell others about Christ Jesus. It was a place where we could invite them to come and learn about the things of the Lord Jesus. I remember meeting them there on Saturday, the 23rd of May. The pastor, whose name was Chuck Dunning, taught a class on divine guidance. After the class on divine guidance, a couple of guys came over to me and asked if I had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit yet. I said, "I have never heard about any baptism in the Holy Spirit, so they explained to me what it it was. They asked if I wanted the free gift, I said. "Yes!" They laid hands on me to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I said, "Yes Jesus, I want this gift." I began to shake all over my body, and I started to speak in another language. Thanks be to Jesus! So now I knew of two places I could go to learn more about Jesus.

Being Baptized In Water

Well, as long as were talking about baptisms, I will tell of my experience. When I heard my pastor Olson at church talk about water baptism, I decided as an adult I would be water baptized. So, on November 13th, 1977, I stepped into a big tank of water and was fully submersed under the water. Because it was taught in the bible, I wanted to be obedient to Gods word. The pastor preached on what being water baptized meant. Oh, by the way, the water in the tank was pretty cold. I guess a heated tank would have been too much to ask for! The important thing was learning to follow and be obedient to my Heavenly Fathers wishes and of course, still is. I desire always to walk close with my Lord and continue to let His life change me from where I am now, to higher ground. The more I learn by His Spirit, the more I will be able to help others. They will know we are Christians by our love. Gods love flowing through us to other thirsty souls that are looking for real meaning in the world.
