Lips that bent to touch mine.
Lips red and sweet,
like grapes before wine.
Innumerable mentions
of loves deep haunting.
How could even time
keep us from starting?
Heartless moon's winter regret
smiled down on me
as I lay in bed.
A whispered name from a long lost past
brings you back to me
in a dream grasped.
Sheets clenched in fury at your love lost
on the cruel cruel morning of my heart's frost.
Long ago now, yes but it comes back
to haunt me.
The body next to me now not yours
to taunt me
in remembered moments of our heart's beating.
Astroprojection soulstealing cheating.
Left of center, right of passage.
Love's like that, yes, it takes advantage.
Left me here in a mornings dark waking
shattered dreams of the past
and the roads not taken.
