Beauty
The world speaks of beauty
As if it were something to admire,
Yet the beauty they speak of
Fails to provoke my desire.
They label a woman beautiful
If she appeals to a man?s eye,
But that beauty is only skin deep.
So where does her true beauty lie?
Her beauty lies in her words;
In the love she's so willing to share.
Her beauty is rooted in her passion
In the blazing fires of her stare.
Her beauty lies in her touch;
In the gentleness of her hands.
Her beauty lies in the way she listens
In the comfort of knowing she understands.
Her beauty lies in her eyes;
The look that can cure all pain.
Her beauty lies in her loyalty,
Her willingness to weather the rain.
Her beauty lies in her smile
In its ability to dissolve my fears.
Her beauty lies in her compassion
In her power to impede the tears.
Her beauty lies in her persistence,
The way she keeps me from falling apart.
But above all else,
Her beauty lies in her heart.
And what this world defines as beauty
Without a doubt will fade.
But the beauty she possesses.
The beauty I see, will never wane.
