I've never been really thrilled with typical British food - black pudding (i.e., made with blood), shephard's pie, toad-in-the-whole, beans on toast, etc. etc. and hagis (well need I say more!). But the British definitely do some things better. The first time I ever saw a sandwich being sold in a plastic container so that the cut halves of the sandwich were visible to see, well, that was in England. And in the grocery stores (I love Marks & Spencer's food section), food sizes are smaller and desserts are less sweet (I'm beginning not to like American desserts). Something about England makes me like vegetables too - in M&S they sell precut fresh (not frozen) veges in microwavable containers with dill butter. You just pop it in the microwave and voila, a healthy side dish. You can buy a piece of cooked chicken, a container of vegetables to heat up, and wash it down with a sparkling water.
