Who is to blame?  Wrestling or Parents?:
Recently I saw a show on CourtTV in which they indicated that several children died while imitating wrestling moves they had seen on TV.  The show indicated that wrestling is directed at children, and that it's over the top violence caused children to act out the moves without them knowing what the out come could be.

I feel this is crap.  The problem does not lie with wrestling.  Nor does it lie with Video games, or Beavis and Butthead, Heavy Metal, or Rap music.  It is easy for parents to blame others then face the fact that the problem lies with them.  We are in a society where parents no longer wish to take responsibility of their children.  They do not discipline or control what their children do.  If they did, then the kids would know that what they see while watching wrestling is NOT real, but is acting.

Further, as I think back at my childhood, my parents were not my best friends.  They were parents.  They controlled what I could or could not do.  That is what being a parent is all about.  Setting boundaries, limitations and most importantly, saying "no".  Every time I hear a story in the news how music made some kid kill his friends, or how watching Beavis and Butthead made a child set a house on fire, I have to ask "Where in the HELL were the parents?"

Unfortunately, I think as long as we have lawyers and ignorant people, we will continue to have lawsuits blaming everyone but the actual culprit.  If we ever want to put an end to this, we need to start placing the blame where it lies.  With the parents.  If a child hurts someone, the parents should be held accountable as well as the child (depending upon it's age.)  Make child raising a mandatory class that people have to take prior to having a child.  I had to go through classes before I got married, why not make potentially new parents go through the same thing?

Any ways enough on this topic.  Let me know what you think.
