Once the league was set and the rules were in place, it didn't seem like controversy was going to be a problem for LAWA. In a game with no refs it was unknown what sort of fights might break out at games. However the game of honour lived up to its name, as few issues ever came back to the leadership council for debate. One topic that came up many times however was the topic of speed. Was there such a thing as too fast? Did the speed of a pitch affect whether or not it was a toogthpu? In the East this was rarely an issue, except during some night games. In the West however speed ruled and many teams were loaded with fastball pitchers. None pitched so fast and effectively as West Side President Todd Robbins. Robbins pitches were so unhittable, particularly inside that he started a whole debate on the speed rule. One thing that is not up for debate is that when Robbins is firing at full speed he is the hardest thing to hit in LAWA. |

When the East Side meets West Side, the pitching is one of the major differences. The East is more of a finesse league, where the West is built on power. |

In the offseason the message board debated whether or not it was time for a change in the rule. While the winter meetings have not decided the issue for good, it now appears that there will be no so called "speed rule" in 2004. |

The willy pitching of LAWAers like Jimmy Moreau, was not so much fast as sneaky. Overall it was nearly as unhittable. |

When the offseason heat turned up on Robbins, he deflected some of the attention by bringing up Rheal Mhen Whiffle's corporate ties. The teams affiliation with Garelick Farms was well known and drew a lot of critiscism just when it appeared that people were ready to turn on Robbins. The pressure led Rheal Mhen to drop talk of building a dome in the spring with corporate financing. |

| Robbins pitches left other teams on the run in '03. His pitching was basically unhittable. Luckily for Team Josh Murphy in the playoffs Chris Page's hitting was basically unmissable. |
