JAKARTA (JP): Ambon Mayor J. Papilaya urged the Maluku civil
emergency authority on Tuesday to set up an anti terror unit
following a bomb blast near a supermarket that left more than 50
people injured on Saturday.
"The civil emergency authority should be equipped with an
anti-terror unit to monitor and observe suspicious
activities," Papilaya told reporters.
The emergency authority, set up in the wake of violent clashes
between Christian and Muslim communities, is headed by the Maluku
governor.
Papilaya described Saturday's bombing as an act of terror
committed by people who moved from one place to another. The anti
terror unit could anticipate such activities in the future, Antara
reported.
No party has claimed responsibility for the bombing, which
exploded in a predominantly Christian area.
