Three wounded in Ambon bomb
blast
A bomb has blown up in the
Indonesia's island of Ambon, wounding at least three people.
The suspected bomb was in a plastic bag that exploded in an open
space near a military base in Ambon's Batugantung area.
A stall-owner alerted soldiers at the infantry base near the
Batugantung market that a suspicious package had been found at the
market.
Two soldiers and a civilian were slightly injured.
The Maluku islands, of which Ambon is the main city, have been the
scene of fighting between Muslims and Christians since 1999.
More than 5,000 have died and intermittent violence has continued
since both sides signed a government-backed peace pact in
February.
