1. THREE KILLED BY BOMB EXPLOSION – Three young secondary
school girls were killed and eight people were wounded by a bomb
explosion that took place at the tribune of the Lapangan Merdeka
field in the centre of the town of Ambon yesterday. Most victims
were athletes that were preparing themselves for national contests
in Papua to be held later this year. At the fatal moment – about
6.40 p.m. – they had just finished their daily training and were
on the tribune preparing to leave. Two young girls died instantly,
another died in hospital. Among those wounded there were four male
bystanders, the other four were school girls. The victims are from
both communities.
2. OPTING FOR M.S. LATUCONSINA AS THE GOVERNOR 2002-2007
– The Latupati (gathering of regional adat elders) have opted
for Ir.Dr. M.Saleh Latuconsina to govern the Province of the
Moluccas for a second term. Dr. Latuconsina had already earlier
acknowledged not to object to a second term as governor. The
election has to take place in November.
