T
he Dark Chronicles IHere's a pointless tale I came up with one day. Silly really.
I was attacked in my garden one night, by a great, winged creature. It flew towards me and entwined it’s leathery wings about my neck – choking me.
It scratched at my body with it’s claws and repeatedly rapped my legs with it’s huge, moist tail.
I was wrestled to the ground where I struggled with the creature for some moments; then, just as I was about to surrender to the cruel beatings, a beautiful white figure appeared before me.
All I could see was white – fluorescent white, dancing in front of me, filling my nostrils with the scent of washing powder and my heart with hope and strength.
This heavenly visitation loaned me the courage to fight the creature; and I did fight.
The struggle continued for some moments and alas, the creature appeared to have won the battle; but without warning, without cause, a great, bright light filled my vision and the creature ceased to exist.
The light was shining so brightly that I could not see the source. My initial thought was that I had died and was now standing at the gates of heaven. I had always imagined that upon death, God would briefly welcome me to my afterlife, I imagined his booming baritone telling me that he loved me and that I was about to receive my reward of eternal life. However, the voice of God was never heard; instead I became aware of a familiar voice asking me what the hell I was doing playing with the washing line.
I rubbed my eyes and blinked. Slowly, everything came into focus; I saw my red-faced mother standing in the doorway cursing loudly and wildly waving her arms about. I glanced down at myself and found that I was sitting on the lawn, entangled in a pair of jeans, a studded leather jacket and a very white but slightly grass-stained bed sheet. The creature was nowhere to be seen.
To this day, I never go out into my garden alone at night for I know that the creature is still out there, waiting…
THE END
Yeah, yeah, I know.
