Hi My name is Laverne,
"Vernie" is ok, so is
Vern, but I'm all female.
I live in Northwest New Jersey
near the Delaware River
I was born on a farm at Tamaqua,
Pennsylvania in the coal region
My Family moved to Bethlehem PA
, where I lived until I married.
I'm 5 ft. 4 in. and
average build, blue
eyes and brown hair,
although it is now blonde.
My age isn't important
but I don't lie about
it. I'm Yankee born
and bred.
I was born
on a farm and prefer
small towns to large
cities.
I'm married to
a handicapped man who
had a severe stroke in
1992. Cared for him
for 8 years. He is now
living in a nursing
home.
I have a son and 2
daughters, 4 grandsons
and 3 granddaughters.
I also have a
Pekingese dog named
Mork. He is very
spoiled but very
sweet.
Retired from communications
work. Worked in a hospital
and then in a state prison
for women. Both were
interesting jobs.
My hobbies used to
vary more before I got
the computer but have
to blame getting older
on a few of the
hobbies I gave up.
I
no longer roller skate
or bowl and I haven't
been horse back riding
in years.
I gave up
ceramics due to lack
of time. I still read
but not as much as I
used to.
I love country music ...
like to read when I have time
... like to cook ... love to
write poetry
Writing poems and working on
my website with Tex (who
made it for me),
I
have my own website of
poems and "stuff" now.
Thanks to my friend
Tex.
Volunteering at the local
hospital,
I love to travel (especially
to Texas)...traveling and
meeting people I talk to in
the senior chat room.
I enjoy
writing and still
write a lot of snail
mail to friends
without computers. (I
do have a few of those
yet.)
Met a bunch of people
at a few AOL bashes
that I attended. I
loved every minute of
it and liked the
people I met very
much.
Love to go in
certain chat rooms.
Enjoy special IM
sessions with special
friends. Like to surf
the net and share my
"finds" with my
friends.
Have fun
exchanging jokes and
nice sites and
learning new things on
here.
I try to help
anyone on here, in
areas that I might
have a little more
experience. (and that
isn't very much.)
I'm
so glad I have a
computer. It changed
my life tremendously
and made it better in
many ways.
I get a
lot
of support from my
friends on here.
That's great when I am
having a "down" type
day. Have I become a
computer junky? Oh
Well, maybe. But isn't
it great?!
