I do not believe that the Flood killed everyone except Noah, his family and the animals that were moved on the Ark. There were only 13 generations between Noah and Abraham, or 260 years. Please consider that at the same time that Abraham was leaving Haran (Genesis 12:4), the following was happening in other parts of the world:
Therefore it seems to me that there was simply not enough time for the repopulation and racial, religious, and intellectual evolution necessary for the above list of events to have occurred.
If the Flood was a real event, then it could only have affected the "known" world of the day, which was very small indeed. This deluge had to have been extremely localized, because even Egypt escaped its devastation. Egypt is geographically next-door to the Holy Land. There is no way that in only 260 years, this sophisticated culture had the time to rebuild itself from scratch, especially when you consider that the Bible claims that the world was repopulated from Noah's sons exclusively.
I will be adding more to this site as I research this Biblical event in more detail, so please stand by.
