Saturday morning brought Lennie the sweetest peace hed ever felt when he woke up and realized he was in Jacks bed.  The owner of the bed was snoring softly beside him, or rather half on top of him.  His bladder was urging him to get up, but there was no way he could bring himself to disturb the sleeper, so he ignored it.  He lay there, fingers feathering through the thick silver hair, utterly content.

A little later, Jacks eyes blinked open with a yawn, and he smiled as he realized he was still wrapped around Lennies warm body.

Morning, came the soft greeting.
Mmm, he murmured, burying his head back into the warm shoulder.
Lennies hands caressed his back, sliding under the covers.  Sleep well?
Best all week.
Soft lips pressed against his forehead.  Me too.  But youve gotta move.
Jack pouted.  Why?
Cause I gotta pee, thats why.  Now MOVE.
Jack laughed as he rolled off, letting his lover crawl out of bed.

Feeling mischievous, he got up as well and followed Lennie into the bathroom, sliding his arms around his lover from behind as he stood at the toilet.
Hey!  Cant a guy get some privacy around here!  The laughter sort of diminished the value of the protest.

Jack nuzzled his neck and pressed close, knowing Lennie could feel his erection through his shorts.  Nice and private.  Just us.
Lennie chuckled, leaving his rapidly stiffening dick hanging out of his shorts.  He turned around within Jacks arms and captured his mouth.
When they came up for air, Lennie caressed his face.  Back to bed?
Jack grinned at him.  Go on.  Ill be there in a minute.  He pushed Lennie away and swatted at his butt, trying to send him on his way.
Lennie just laughed and shook his head.  Oh, all right

He tossed the shorts aside before climbing back into bed.  A few moments later, Jack joined him, also naked now, stretching out beside him, pulling him close.

They spent the next hour making love, slow and gentle. Kisses covered every inch of skin, hands lovingly caressed bodies with no feeling at all of urgency. Just being together, touching, holding. Loving. Passions grew slowly, kindling a slow burn, until at last the flame erupted.

Lennie gasped as Jack pressed inside him, filling him, body and soul. This was so much better than what he'd had with Mike. That had been more heated, more intense physically, but this ... this was almost spiritual. Jack all but laid on top of him, Lennie's legs wrapped around him, mouths locked. He felt as if Jack's tongue and dick would somehow meet in the middle of him, right at his heart. His cock was trapped between their bodies, Jack's stomach rubbing it with every thrust. He felt absolutely complete in a way he'd never imagined he could as the tremors took him.

Even after they both calmed, they stayed together, not wanting to lose the moment of closeness. Jack looked down into his eyes, smiling softly. "You're beautiful like this."
Lennie laughed softly, one hand reaching up to feather through the mussed hair. "You too."
Finally, Jack slipped out of him and rolled off to lay beside him. "Come here. I want to hold you."

Lennie happily complied, rolling over to snugle into Jack's arms with a kiss. "So what shall we do with the day?"
Lennie sighed. He really wanted to get this over with. "Jack ... would you mind if I called Don? I'd really like to set things right with Mike so we can truly put this behind us."
Jack kissed his cheek. "Figured that's what you'd want."
Lennie was a little worried. "Are you going to be ok seeing him?"
Jack just hugged him. "You know, I've got every right to hate the man, but strangely enough I don't. Lennie, I saw him fall apart Thursday night when he realized what he'd almost done. I can't help but feel sorry for him. Besides, he loves you. We've at least got that in common."
Lennie gazed at him, surprised. "You are amazing."
Jack smiled. "I'm not really the cold-hearted bastard everybody sees in the courtroom, Lennie. It's just been a long time since anybody warmed my heart enough to let it come out."
Lennie pulled him close and kissed him.

Lennie finished his shower and dried off, slipping into the clean underwear Jack had loaned him. He hadn't been expecting to spend the night, hadn't brought a change with him, so it was lucky that they were so close to the same size. He headed back to the bedroom, looking for his slacks. From the living room, he could hear Jack talking to somebody, probably on the phone.

"Yes, thanks, Adam. I really appreciate it. Let me know as soon as you hear something, ok? Call my cell. Yeah. Thanks."

Lennie wondered what he was talking about. Adam was probably D.A. Adam Schiff. He knew Jack was very close to his boss, but had no idea what they'd be talking about today. He found his pants and put them on, tucking in the clean shirt, also a loaner. He remembered the night he'd found Mike's sweatshirt, shaking his head. God, that had thrown him for a loop. But it truly was all over now. Something in his heart had changed this morning. He knew now that he belonged to Jack, body and soul.

Before his shower, Lennie had called Cragen, asking to set up a meeting with Mike. Don told him that Mike also wanted a chance to set things right, and suggested they come over to his house later that afternoon around 5PM. Jack knew Lennie would be preoccupied all afternoon, so he suggested a movie to distract him. Jack smiled, remembering their first 'date' all of three weeks ago, holding hands in the darkness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As they came out of the theater, Lennie glanced at his watch. Jack nodded. "Yeah. It's time."
Lennie sighed. As they got into Lennie's car, Jack turned to him. "You going to make it?" His hand caught Lennie's.
Lennie squeezed his hand, looking into his eyes. "I love you, Jack. We'll make it."
They were quiet as Lennie drove out to Don's house. Jack got out his cell phone and checked for messages, finding one.  Lennie wasnt sure what was going on, but whatever was in that message made Jack smile.  They drove onto a quiet street in a suburban neighborhood and parked in the driveway in front of a nice house. It was private enough that before they got out, Jack took Lennie's hand again and lifted it to his lips. Their eyes met, speaking what needed to be said without words. Then they got out of the car and walked up to the door.
Don's wife answered the door and let them in. "Hello Lennie." She obviously knew exactly who he was and what he was to her husband. She didn't like being around Don's lover any more than he liked being around hers, even though they were open about the arrangement. "They're down in the family room waiting for you. I'm on my way out ..."
Lennie nodded and led Jack down the stairs. Don and Mike were sitting on one side of a large sectional sofa which wrapped around the corner opposite a large TV. They looked up at the sound of footfalls on the stairs. Mike nearly went white as he realized there were two sets of legs coming down.
Don reached out and laid his hand on Mike's back. "Did you expect anything else, Mikey?"
Logan shook his head, not trusting his voice.
"OK, so just take it easy, all right?"
Logan took a deep breath and nodded as Jack and Lennie came around the corner into the room.
Don stood up and went to Lennie, laying his hands on his friend's arms and looking into his eyes. He was surprised to see calmness and security there. He could tell Lennie was nervous about the possible confrontation, but not about his decision.
Lennie smiled softly and nodded, his hands settling on Cragen's waist in a brief hug. "Hi Don."
"Hi Lennie. Jack. Have a seat." He indicated the other arm of the L-shaped sofa.
They sat down and for a moment, nobody said anything.  Then Lennie and Mike both started talking at the same time.
Woah, there, one at a time, Cragen interrupted.
Mike got up, giving the impression that it was either move or jump out of his skin.  Im sorry, OK?  Ive made a mess of this from day one and Im so fucking sorry I dont even know how to say it.  His eyes darted back and forth between Lennie and Jack, visibly wincing every time he saw the dark bruises hed inflicted.
Much to Lennies surprise, Jack spoke first.  Mike, please relax.  Im not here for revenge.  I for one forgive you.
Logan sat down hard, his mouth hanging open, unable to believe what he was hearing.
Lennies voice filled the silence.  Im sorry too, Mikey.  Sorry I scared you that night, even if we shouldnt have been doing what we were doing in the first place.  I just couldnt let you walk out of my life again with us still mad.  What we had was special back then, Mike, but its over.  I wish it had worked out different back then, but thats not how it played out.  But Ill always care about you, Mikey, you know that.  You were my friend first, and still are.  Please tell me you know that.  Lennies voice was almost pleading, his eyes shining brightly.
Mike looked at them, saw Jack take Lennies hand in solidarity and comfort, and realized that Lennie deserved better than him.  He was damaged goods, chewed up and spit out by the church, the NYPD, his family.  He saw something in Jacks eyes when he looked at Lennie  love.  Protectiveness.  It was more than he could take, and he doubled over, burying his face in his hands, sobbing.
Dont waste your friendship on me Lennie.  Im not worth it  The muffled voice filtered through his hands.
Lennie looked at Jack, who nodded and let go.  He got up and came to kneel in front of Mike, pulling the younger man into his arms.  Yes you are, Mikey.  You are.
Lennie held him, his own tears spilling over.  Cragen sat beside them, a hand resting on Logans back.  After a while, Mike pulled away from Lennies embrace and looked into his eyes.  Im so damned scared, Lennie.  I dont know if I can do this alone.
Lennie gently brushed a lock of dark hair back.  Mike, you need to let go of the past, and Im part of it.
Mike nodded sadly.  I get that now.  Don and I talked all night Thursday.  I   I know I need help, Lennie.  I thought youd be the one to help me.  But its more than that, I know it now.  I  Ive got an appointment with Olivet next week.
Lennie sighed and pulled him close.  Good, Mikey, thats good.  So you going to stay here then?
Mike shook his head.  I cant, Lennie.  Too many damned memories.  Im not sure yet where Im gonna go, and Im so scared
Maybe I can help with that.  Everybody was startled when Jack spoke.  Do you remember Ben Stone?
Mike nodded.
Mike, he knows what its like to leave everything behind and start over again - alone.  I know you knew each other, enough to have him feel like a friendly face, but not enough to really be a part of the past you need to put behind you. I made some phone calls this morning  Adam has stayed in touch with him.  Hed be happy to talk with you, help you get started.
The others simply stared in astonishment.  Finally, Mike found his voice.   Why?  Why would you do this for me?
Jack came to stand behind Lennie, resting his hands on his lovers shoulders.  Because I love Lennie.  And youre important to him.
Lennie let go of Mike and stood, turning to face Jack, caressing his cheek.  Jack kissed him softly.
Mike looked at them and finally realized that hed never had a chance; what they had was too strong.  Too special.  He wondered if anybody would ever love him like that
Finally Mike found his voice.  I dont know what to say.  Thank you.
Youre welcome.  Jack fished in his pants pocket and retrieved a slip of paper with an address and phone number, gave it to Mike.  Hes expecting to hear from you.
Mike sighed.  So I guess its really time to move on, then.
Lennie turned to him.  Get yourself some good professional help this time, OK?  Do it right, Mikey.  Really get it all behind you this time.
Logan nodded, not trusting his voice.  Lennies hands captured his face and he placed a gentle kiss on Logans lips.  Bye, Mikey.  Be safe.  Be happy.
Mike reached out to brush away the tear from Lennies cheek, ignoring his own tears. Gbye, Lennie.  They held each other tight, until finally Jack laid his hand on Lennies back and Lennie let go, taking Jacks hand and walking quickly toward the stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lennie got into the car and sighed, slumped over the steering wheel. The meeting with Mike had been very hard for him. Jack got into the passenger seat and turned to him, laying a hand on his shoulder.
"Lennie? You ok? You want me to drive?"
For some reason that struck Lennie as funny. He looked up, laughing through the last of his tears. "Jack, when was the last time you drove a car?"
Jack was delighted to see the laughter, so he played it up, pretending to be hurt. "Hey! I drive up to Albany every year for the State Bar Assn. conference."
Lennie raised his eyebrows, shook his head, and reached for the ignition. Jack just smiled and let his hand rest on Lennie's leg as they drove off.

"So - your place or mine?"
Jack squeezed his leg. "Yours. You've got a more comfortable couch. Unless you want to get some dinner first?"
Lennie shook his head. "Not really hungry right now. But couch sounds perfect."

Jack knew that despite the momentary laughter, Lennie was still hurting. This day had been unbelievably difficult for him, and Jack wanted to soothe away as much of the hurt as he could.
They walked up the steps to the second floor and Lennie unlocked the door. As soon as it was locked behind them, Jack pulled Lennie into his arms, kissing him softly, then leading him over to the couch.

Jack sat in the corner with Lennie leaning against him, an arm wrapped protectively around his hurting friend. Lennie sighed as he settled into the embrace, smiling as he felt Jack's lips press against the top of his head.

They just sat there together for a while, Jack's hands gently stroking him, calming. Jack waited patiently for Lennie to talk, knowing that at some point he would.

Lennie let himself float for a while, safe in Jack's arms. Finally the words came.
"You know what the worst part of this is, Jack?"
"Hmm?"
"I wanted to go with him. But not so much even because of him ..."
Jack just held him, letting him talk.

"I was sitting there at work last week, wondering when I'd get back into the field. I suddenly realized I really didn't want to. I've been a cop for so long I can't imagine anything else, but I'm scared, Jack. I think I really am getting too old for this. Twenty years ago I'd be fully healed by now; but I'm still no more than 80%."

Jack bent down and kissed his temple. "You know, you've been amazingly lucky. Over 25 years on the force and this is the first time you've been seriously injured. That's pretty much a miracle. We've seen younger men than you decide it's not worth the risk after something like this. Nobody would be at all surprised if you retired now."

Lennie sighed. "God, I wish I could ... "
"Why can't you?"
"Can't afford it."
An idea Jack had been playing around with all day started to crystallize. "Maybe you can't, but WE can ..."
Lennie sat there quietly, not believing what he was hearing. He sat up, turning to face his lover. "Jack?" he asked softly.  Are you saying what I think youre saying?
You said it yourself, Lennie.  That upscale apartment isnt me.  It never was.  I could sell it and make a very nice profit.  We could buy a nice place a little farther out.  Make it our own.  If youre not a cop, theres no reason to hide anymore.

The vision was a beautiful one.  There was just one thing Jack, what would I do all day?  Im not exactly a stay-at-home type.
Jack smiled.  Anything you wanted, Lennie.  A normal 9 to 5 job.  Even part time we really dont need the money, although it would be nice. Volunteer work. Something fun and interesting.  Whatever caught your fancy.

Lennie couldnt believe what he was hearing.  It was much too good to be true.  But then he looked into Jacks eyes and knew that it was true.  He tried one last time. Jack, its too soon.  I dont want you to rush into this

Jack wrapped both arms around him, holding him close.  I almost lost you, Lennie.  I know what I want, now.  No doubts, no hesitation.

Lennie was out of objections.  He just shook his head, gazing at the man who had become the indisputable center of his world.  Oh, Jack

Jack pulled him close again.  Is that a yes? whispered into his ear.
Yes! was all he could get out before Jacks lips silenced him.

When they finally came up for air, he reached out and brushed the hair from Jacks eyes.  He realized he loved the way those heavy bangs kept sliding down over his lovers eyes, begging him to push them back again.  They sat there for a moment, grinning at each other like idiots.

You know what Id really like to do now?  Lennie finally asked.
Bedroom?
Lennie shook his head.  Plenty of time for that later.  I want to celebrate.  Go out to dinner somewhere really nice.  Hold your hand walking down the street, not caring who sees us.  Besides, I just realized Im starving.  Didnt eat much lunch

Jack laughed.  No, you were a bit nervous earlier.  But Lennie are you sure?  You havent even submitted the paperwork yet.

Lennie shook his head.  Jack, Im never going back out in the field.  Ill ride a desk until the paperwork comes through.  Im done hiding, for good.  As long as YOUre sure youre ok with coming out?

Jack thought about it for a minute.  You know, the only two people whose opinions I care about already know, so yeah, Im ok.

What about your daughter?
Jacks face fell.  Oh shit.  Yeah, guess I have to tell her.  And her mother, not that I care what SHE thinks

Lennie laughed.  Jack looked into his eyes.  Do your girls know?
No, but its about time they did.  Well deal with it, Jack.  Together.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It being Saturday evening, they had to wait a little while for a table, but they didnt care.  They were together.  Not flaunting it, but not hiding, either.  Lennie felt almost giddy sitting there waiting for the hostess to call them.
They had a wonderful dinner, talking and laughing the entire time as they planned and dreamed for their future together.  And when it was done, they walked out of the restaurant hand in hand.
They came out of the stairwell to see Lennies neighbor, Mrs. Simpson, on her way out.
Good evening, Lennie!
Lennie blushed as he realized Jack was still holding his hand. Uh, hi Mrs. Simpson.
She looked at them, a broad smile on her lips.  So whos your friend?
Oh, uh, this is Jack.
Jack smiled at her.  Evening, maam.
She laid her hand on Jacks arm as she passed them on the way to the stairs.  Its about time he found somebody to make him smile like that again
Now it was Jacks turn to blush as Lennie unlocked the door and they ducked inside and collapsed into a giggle fit.
She knows, Lennie.
Well I never told her!
It doesnt seem to bother her.
Thank god!
He was breathless when Jack leaned in to take what little breath he had left away.  As they pulled apart, Jacks hands caught his face.  Lennie, I want you to make love to me tonight.  I want  I want to give myself to you the way youve given yourself to me.
Lennie looked at him.  Jack, you dont have to do this because of Mike
A finger pressed against his lips silenced him.  Have you been listening to me for the past couple of weeks?  I want this.  Mike has nothing to do with it.
Lennie looked into his eyes, then kissed the finger against his lips, drawing it into his mouth, sucking it lasciviously.  Jack chuckled as he pulled it away.  Bedroom now?
Oh yes.
Lennie took his hand and led him back.  Somehow they managed to stop kissing each other long enough to get both shirts off and pull back the covers before falling onto the bed.  Lennie laid on top of Jack, wanting to touch every inch of that beloved body. His lips wandered down to Jacks nipples, sucking and nibbling until they were as hard as the lump he felt through the heavy denim of Jacks jeans.
Jack squirmed under him as one hand caressed that lump.  Oh, god, Lennie.  I want you.  Please.
Lennie moved up to silence him with a kiss, letting his hands work on the belt.  Jacks hands slid down his back, cupping his rear through the lighter dress slacks hed been wearing since yesterday.  Lennie moved back down, unzipping the jeans and tugging open the top button, then sliding lower still and tugging the jeans and underwear down.  Jack lifted his hips, eager to be rid of the tight pants.
Lennie stood up, throwing the jeans aside, then hurriedly tossing his own pants after them.  He crawled back into bed, laying down beside Jack and pulling him into his arms.  Jack met him eagerly, arms and legs entwined as tongues battled, darting in and out.  Hot, hard cocks followed the rest of their bodies.
Finally Lennie sat up, letting a hand trail down Jacks chest.  Jack.  You sure?
Never been more sure of anything, Lennie.  I want to feel you inside me.  Its driving me crazy wondering what its like.
Lennie smiled and let his fingers wander further south, sliding over the hardness and slipping behind.  Jack spread his legs further apart.
Pull your knees up.  Feet flat on the bed.  Yeah, thats good.
The movement rotated Jacks hips just enough to give him easy access.  He let his finger trail over the tight rosebud, rimming it, pushing in ever so slightly.  He could hear Jacks breathing change with his excitement. You like that?
Yes.  Jacks reply sounded almost breathless.  Lennie smiled and bent down for another kiss as his finger continued exploring.
When he let go, he leaned over to the nightstand for the bottle of lube, then repositioned between Jacks legs.  OK, Jack, Im going to start warming you up.  Just one finger at first, and plenty of lube.  OK?
Oh god, yes.
Lennie got his middle finger nice and slick, then poured a little more lube directly over Jacks hole, using the finger to rub it around.  Im going to come in now, Jack.
He looked at his lover, glad to see the eagerness in his face.  Lennie watched that face intently as his finger slipped inside, just to the first knuckle.  Seeing no resistance, he slid the rest of the finger in slowly, watching Jacks expression of delight.
Jack smiled at him, enjoying the sensation.  He just wished he could touch his lover.  Lennie?  Can you do that if you sit up here where I can reach you?
Lennie thought about it for a minute and nodded.  Lift your right leg, will you?
Jack did as requested, allowing Lennie to squirm around so that his legs pointed up towards Jack.  Just drape your leg over me.
Jack sighed happily.  Thats perfect.  His leg draped over Lennies middle and his hand could caress the hairy calf beside him.
Lennie smiled and kissed the inside of his thigh. The finger still buried inside him started moving slowly.  Oh! he sighed as that long digit found his sweet spot.
Lennie chuckled, his other hand caressing the thigh draped over him.  He kept it going for a good long while, letting Jack get used to it.
You want some more, Jack?
Yes.
On the next thrust, he brought his index finger in as well, again stopping at the first knuckle, then slowly resuming his thrusting when he heard Jacks soft moan.  You ok?
More than ok, Lennie.
Good.  Im going to stretch you  this might hurt a little.
He watched Jack carefully as he spread his fingers apart, pushing gently against the muscles.  But there wasnt even the tiniest flicker of pain in those dark eyes.  Lennie kissed his thigh again.  Youre doing so good, Jack.  Nice and relaxed.
I trust you, Lennie.  Im excited, but Im not afraid.
Lennies heart melted at the words.  He let his fingers get a little more aggressive.  Jack moaned appreciatively.
One more?
OK.
His ring finger joined in the party, drawing a gasp from Jack.  Lennie stopped immediately.
No, keep going.  Just surprised me, thats all.
Lennie watched the beloved face carefully as he proceeded to finger-fuck him.  Jacks still rock hard dick left no doubt that he was enjoying this.  Lennies left hand reached out to it, pulling it toward his mouth, sucking gently as his hand kept up its thrusting motion.
Oh god
Jack was definitely having a good time.  But Lennie knew he wanted the rest; finishing him off this way would have to wait for another time.  He let the cock slip out of his mouth.  Jack whimpered.  Cant give you the real thing from here, love.  You ready for the main event?
Jacks heart was pounding and every nerve ending in his body seemed to be firing.  He had never wanted anything so much in his entire life.  He looked up into Lennies eyes.  Want you.
Lennie smiled and slid out from under Jacks leg.  Before getting into position, he crawled up beside Jack and kissed him, long and sweet.  Then he settled into place between the long legs and gave himself a generous lube job.  Put your legs up on my shoulders, Jack.  This lifted him up to a better angle.  He pressed his cock head against the tight pucker.  This probably will hurt just a bit.
Jack nodded.  The feel of Lennies cock pressing against his opening was driving him mad. Go.
Guiding himself with one hand, Lennie pushed the head into the tight space.
Jack let out an inarticulate gasp of pain, glad that Lennie held still after that first push.  But as the stinging calmed, he realized that he had done it.  Lennie was inside him.  He felt like his heart was going to burst as the pain rapidly mutated into pleasure.
Lennie saw the look of joy on his face, and took it for permission to move.  He began gently thrusting, deeper and deeper with each stroke.  Jack moaned loudly as his prostate was rubbed with each stroke.  Lennie felt the tight, hot channel clamp down on him, wanted to lose himself inside Jack forever.  He kept it slow, wanting it to last, but Jack had other ideas, pushing back against him with every stroke.  Oh, Christ, this feels good!
Lennie laughed softly, knowing that he wouldnt be able to resist Jacks eagerness, so he let one hand trail down the thigh he was holding to explore Jacks balls and cock.  The combined stimulation just about sent Jack ballistic.  Oh, Lennie!  Oh  oh god  OH!
Jacks orgasm squeezed Lennie so hard he followed only a few moments behind his lover.  When they were both still, Lennie gently slid out and flopped down on the bed beside Jack, pulling him close.
After a kiss that seemed to last forever, he finally asked.  So was it anything like you imagined?
Jack shook his head, still kind of dazed.  Not even close.  So much better
You might be a little sore tomorrow
Jack smiled.  Worth it.
A little while later, Lennie sat up and reached for the wipes he kept on the nightstand, gently cleaning the mess from their bodies.  Then he shut out the light and laid down beside Jack, pulling the covers up over them.  Jack nestled happily on his shoulder with Lennies fingers carding through his hair.  He was almost asleep a little later when Lennie spoke.
Jack?  I  I wanted to thank you for what you did for Mike.  That was really above and beyond
Jack sat up, leaning on one elbow, reaching out to caress Lennies face.  You care about him, Lennie.  I couldnt do any less.
Lennie pulled him back down and kissed him.  I love you, Jack McCoy.
Jack sighed happily and settled back onto the warm shoulder.  Love you too, Lennie.
