I don't know why i  like Lavender.
I feel a sense of comfort & peaceful after looking at lavender fields.
I even bought an oil painting featured a lavender farm in France
The history of lavender is long and vast.
It has been used for things as diverse as curing a headache to disinfecting a hospital room in World War II.
Lavender has been cultivated and used for more then 2,000 years. Early civilizations such as the Romans, Egyptians and Arabians all used this multi-faceted herb. Embalming, bathing, insect repellant, cooking and bathing are some of the many ways lavender was used. The English, of course, have long been associated with lavender. English lavender soap is well known for its gentle fragrance and relaxing qualities.

Since the beginning of time lavender has been recognized for its numerous uses. Lavender adds wonderful aroma to bathing. Lavender repels moles, flies and mosquitoes and its medicinal uses are numerous. Lavender is a tonic, antiseptic, sedative, calms the digestive system, an anti-spasm and a diuretic. It can be used for problems of vertigo and dizziness, fits, eczema, insomnia, asthma, colds and digestion difficulties.
GROWING LAVENDER...
Lavender is a relatively easy plant to grow if you know just a little bit about its needs.  Here are some tips on growing lavender.
Space your plants so there will be plenty of room for air flow around the plant once
      it matures.
Place the plants in an area where they can get lots of sun.
Make sure the soil has very good drainage. Lavender hates to have "wet feet."
The soil should be loose and relatively dry, add sand if the soil is not fine enough or
      you need to increase drainage.
Make sure the hole is big enough to accommodate the root spread.
Mix a little bone meal in with the soil at the bottom of the hole.
Gently spread the roots of the plant out before placing it in the hole.
     Fill in gently.
Prune plants in early spring, or in the fall after harvesting.
Most people prune into a dome shape.
