Excerpt from Indu's Kolkatta trip
mail This journey is quite wonderful in many ways- it goes all the way from
west to east- so its gujarat- maharashtra-MP-chhatisgarh-orissa-bihar-bengal.
From plump well fed people to gaunt emaciated ones with dark shrivelled
skins (u know if a raisin were a person it would probably live in orissa or
bihar)....arid dry lands....lush green ones...shunting sheds and factories...lit with dim sodium vapour bulbs...looking like some deconstructivist fantasy... Places where the train's path is carved out of rock....where roots of age old plants are sprawled on the rocky wall...and when the train goes by
full speed....it becomes like some psychedelic music video (I was listening to
the wild guitar opening of 'the only thing that looks good on me is you' back then)... |
