I
don't have him for anything, but i've heard of him - apparently he
got his name onto a promo poster by putting it on a tire?

I checked out thier webby and it seems that the course u speek
of is exactly the same as one i all ready have down 'computing
(games, simulation, and VR)'which is coded G401??? I didnt see
anything called 'Games computing'? Do i have the wrong course
or sumthin?
No, it's just the really great uni hasn't updated their listings.
The info I gave you is correct for next year's just they need to get
off their arse and start telling people of the new things.
10k is pretty good. Just hope I can score a placement when I'm
actually at that stage.
About the Games area too, looks like that's the same as Hull's,
so it's just a decision between Hull and Teeside. Teeside is all on
the same Campus is it not? That'll mean more people, and therefore
more chance of having fun (...I think...). Though Teeside does
actually have people from within the industry, when I asked the
question at Hull, they just skimmed around it (i.e. everyone's from
the industry - but they meant 'computer industry' and not 'games
industry').

Not
bad! Much better than the Hull 'no games industry experience'
lecturers. It's the Teeside open day this Wednesday isn't it. I
don't think I'll be going can't face the whole no sleep-all drive
day again. Especially when it's even further than last week (Hull)!

Reading through this topic Teeside seems to be highly spoken
of and i'll probably make that my first option. Thanks for those who
gave their opinions on it, they were a great help.
I just started to look at courses related to computer games. I
looked up Salford university which hasn't been mentioned here and I
was wondering if anyone had any 'inside' information on it.
The course details are here: http://195.226.52.155/sudb/coursedetails.asp?index=368

Guess I'll be the highest qualified poster here soon. PhD
Quantum Physics. (Superfluids more spec.) If only I knew how to
code.....
Qualifs are good but i don't expect to get anywhere near an
interview without decent coding skills. Even if your course is crap
code evry night and discover funky tricks. Then make a nice BUG FREE
demo and you're away.
Note the BUG FREE bit. Very important.

I
know it's a bit late Rik, but I applied for the 'Interactive
Computer Entertainment' course at Teeside.

Yeah they're great, and I know precisely what you mean. I'm not
expecting anything, that's the main reason why I want to do that
course, because it will allow me to be able to do a wide variety of
things. Not just games. Can you spell "that's good"?

by
the end of the second year, if you've done the work you are supposed
to have, you will have a pretty good demo under your belt. You'll
essentially have built your own 3D renderer, with your own line
drawing code, shading algorhythms etc.
...I really need to start doing more work!
