Chapter 2
“So I’m a terribly attractive man, huh?”

“Don’t act like you don’t know it!” Riley smiled and leaned a little over the table. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned her head to see one of the security guards at the club.

“You ready?” he asked her.

“Yeah.” She waved him off and turned back to AJ. “I gotta go do a thing, but I’ll see ya later.” She flashed him a huge smile before exiting the booth.

AJ was left in a state of shock at her fast departure. Come to think of it, she had appeared just as quickly. ‘Weird…’ AJ thought to himself.

A few minutes later he saw, as best he could from where he was sitting, a security guard guy go up on the stage. ‘He looks like the guy who just talked to Riley.’ AJ thought. ‘Nah, it couldn’t be the same guy. There must be at least 10 security guards here. It’s not the same one.’

“Ok, listen up! The 7 club is proud to present, our homegirl, DJ Riot!!” The crowd erupted into shouts and applause.

“So this is the DJ that Brian was talking about…” AJ said to himself. He got out of the booth to get a better look. The club had sure filled up fast. “This guy must be pretty good for this place to be packed so quickly.” AJ found the other guys standing near the back of the club.

“Hey what’s up?” Nick asked.

“Nothing.”

“We saw you talking to some girl over there…” Kevin left the sentence in the air.

“Yeah, what was that about?” Howie asked.

“I’m not really sure, she just kinda showed up and left just as fast as she came.”

The club was pretty dark, and the crowd was getting larger by the minute. AJ saw above the crowd, as best he could in the darkness, a figure come on stage at the turntables. He strained his eyes to see the stage. He caught sight of what he thought was some dark hair, but he wasn’t sure. He started to make his way through the crowd towards the stage. As he got closer, he had a better view of the stage and the girl that was DJing. ‘A girl?’ he thought, ‘This great DJ Brian was talking about is a girl?’

He walked closer to the stage, but before he got there, he heard a fast remix of “Drowning.” He was right in front of the stage now. He looked up to the turntable and saw something he had never expected.

“Riley?!” He yelled, smiling.

She just smiled right back at him.
