Chapter 6 :
***
Cady groaned as sunlight stung her eyes, that was odd, the sun never shone into her bedroom. A moment passed before the puzzle pieces fell into place and she realized that she wasn't in Candlekeep.

She crawled out of the bushes, coming nose to nose with a rabbit on the way, and got to her feet. She looked around and heaved a trembling sigh, the nightmare was real, so very real. Tears stung at her eyes again.

She very nearly had a heart attack when a hand came down on her shoulder, she immediately grabbed her sword and got ready to fight.

"Hey wow, it's me Imoen"

Cady blinked the tears in her eyes away and frowned when she saw her best friend standing in front of her. She slowly put her sword away and wiped the tears away with the back of her hands.

"Imoen?. What are you doing out here?" she asked.

"Well, I was going to follow you and Gorion and then...when I saw Gorion's body...I thought you might need help" Imoen said softly.

Tears flooded Cady's eyes again and before they knew it they were both crying while clinging to eachother for dear life.

"He's gone, I can't believe he's gone" Cady whispered.

"Hey," Imoen said "At least we still have eachother"

Cady smiled through her tears and nodded.

"Now, are we gonna stand here all day or are we gonna get going?" Imoen asked.
***
Cady and Imoen gingerly approached the spot where Gorion died and saw that his body was still there. They made sure that the big warrior wasn't there before walking onto the field.

Gorion's face was peaceful, his eyes and mouth closed. Cady kneeled down next to him and gently searched his clothes. She knew he was dead and that she didn't have to be gentle but she couldn't help it.

She found a letter, a letter from a friend of Gorion's, someone who claimed that Gorion had to leave Candlekeep immediately. It was signed by 'E'.

"Now, how do you think that could be?" Cady asked Imoen.

"I don't know" Imoen said "But it must be a friend"

They took the letter and what money they found, after which they said goodbye to Gorion. Cady didn't wanna leave him like that but she didn't feel she had a choice.

"I will make the one who did this to you pay Gorion, this I swear" Cady whispered, briefly touching Gorion's face.

Cady and Imoen left the area after that, without looking back.
