Chapter 7 :

Harmony sighed as she picked at the leaves in front of her.She was lying on her stomach with her hands under her chin.Captain Smollett and the others were discussing what they were going to do to put Long John and the pirates to justice and Harmony was bored.She had tried to talk to Benjamina without any luck.
"Why are you so upset with me?"
"You openly admit that your father is Bernie Flint and you wonder why I�m upset with you?" Benjamina asked.
"I didn�t choose my father,if I had I would have chosen Captain Smollett" Harmony said.
"Oh great,you trade in a coldhearted skin flint for a coldhearted frog" Benjamina said.
Harmony sat up and crossed her arms.
"Captain Smollett is cold blooded,not cold hearted.He�s the warmest�person I have every known" Harmony said.
"Maybe to you,to me he�s been nothing but bad luck" Benjamina said.
Harmony stared at Benjamina for a while.Benjamina huffed and turned away.
"You still love him,don�t you?" Harmony asked.
Benjamina shook her head but Harmony persisted.
"You really want to lose him forgood?" Harmony asked.
Benjamina was silent for a few moments before letting out a loud sigh and relaxing her shoulders.She silently climbed down from where she was sitting and sat down next to Harmony.
"I guess I don�t" Benjamina grudgingly admitted.
"Love will set you free" Harmony suddenly said.
"What?" Benjamina asked.
"I found a torn page in the kitchen once,it said �Love will set you free�" Harmony said.
"That�s all it said?" Benjamina asked.
"Yep" Harmony said.
"Not much of a book then,was it?" Benjamina asked.
Harmony chuckled and shook her head.
"I suppose it wasn�t" Harmony said.

Benjamina had joined in on the conversation that Captain Smollett was having and was now loudly arguing with them.Jim had stepped away from them and joined Harmony.Jim smiled shyly and sat down next to her.
"Hi" Harmony said.
"Hi" Jim said.
"So,how are the plans to overthrow Long John coming along?" Harmony asked.
"As far as I could tell they still aren�t agreeing on anything" Jim said.
"Great,if this takes much longer it will no longer be necessary" Harmony said.
Jim nodded and glanced at Harmony who was looking at the group standing a little while off.Jim really thought that Harmony was beautiful,she didn�t have fake beauty like the spinsters back in London,she had natural beauty like�a mermaid.Jim snapped out of his daydreaming when he noticed Harmony was waving her hand in front of his face.
"Hey,a little spaced out,huh?" Harmony asked with a soft smile.
"Yeah" Jim said,at least it wasn�t a complete lie.
"Can�t say I blame you?.These last few days have been crazy" Harmony said.
Long silence.
"It wasn�t always like this,there was a time when Captain Smollett and I were able to travel all over the world without ever having to worry about mutiny,I don�t know what changed"
Short silence.
"Maybe nothing changed,maybe I was just imagining things when I thought I was safe" Harmony said "I�m sorry,you probably don�t wanna hear all this"
"I do,I�d love to hear all about you" Jim quickly said.
"Really?" Harmony asked,with a smile.
"Yeah" Jim said,smiling as well.
Jim had already heard most of the story from Captain Smollett but he wanted to hear the whole story from Harmony�s own lips.
Another moment of silence followed as Harmony contemplated how to start.
"I was born on the 6th of June,1836.My father was a pirate called Bernie Flint,my mother was a�prostitute, I don�t know her name.Flint got her pregnant and she gave birth to me nine months later.I don�t know exactly what happened after that but I do know that when I was 2 Bernie Flint killed my mother and abandoned me.I was found by Captain Abraham Smollett and he took me in.Captain Smollett is without a doubt the kindest father figure anyone could ask for.He named me,I don�t know what my mother called me and I guess I�ll never find out"
Harmony was silent for another while and Jim squeezed her hand gently.Harmony threw him an appreciating smile and continued:
"I traveled on board Captain Smollett�s ship,doing my share of the chores and generally having a good time.The crew on board the ship changed from time to time so I never got to know anybody and that�s probably for the best.The change in crew also caused me to be unaware of what a bunch of blood sucking pirates they really are.I didn�t become aware of that until we started this trip with this whole new crew.I suddenly became very aware of just how fragile I was and how scared I should be.These pirates stared and even groped.It was Long John that made me feel safe but now I know that that�s a joke,he was the one that was after me all along"
A tear slipped from Harmony�s eye and she angrily wiped it away.
"The last couple of days on board the ship I had started hearing rumours amongst the pirates.They didn�t care if I heard them,in fact I think they preferred it if I did hear them.The rumours told that my fa�captain Bernie Flint killed my mother and buried her on the exact same location as the treasure�I guess you know the rest"
Jim nodded solemnly but didn�t know what to say.After a while Harmony was feeling bold and decided to just go ahead and ask Jim what had been on her mind for some time.She took a deep breath.
"Jim?"
"Yes?"
"Can I ask you a question?" Harmony said.
"Sure" Jim said.
"How come you always blush when you�re around me?" Harmony asked.
Jim�s blush deepened and he desperately searched for the right words to say but couldn�t find them.
"I don�t always blush" Jim blurted out,mentally wanting to slap himself.
"Of course you do,sometimes you think no one saw it but I�m not dumb" Harmony said.
"Well�I�I mean�" Jim stammered.
Jim suddenly felt a surge of courage and blurted out:
"I love you and I want to stay with you"
Jim was afraid to look Harmony in the eyes but felt that he had to.When he saw the soft expression on Harmony�s face he knew she wasn�t angry or insulted.She looked surprised and flattered.Harmony went to say something but she was cut off by two voices coming nearer.
"I�m telling you she�s going to hate it" Rizzo said.
"We wont know that unless we try it,Rizzo" Gonzo argued.
"I don�t need to try it to know that she�ll bite our heads off�" Rizzo said.
When Rizzo and Gonzo noticed that they were now standing in front of Jim and Harmony they stopped arguing.
"Still no solution?" Harmony asked.
"Well actually they have come up with something but you�re not going to like it" Rizzo said looking at Harmony.

Harmony gritted her teeth as she stood there.She was having a hard time keeping her temper in check as Squire Trelawny,dr Livesley and Beaker walked around her,draping seaweed all over her.
"I understand that we have a problem and I understand that it needs to be dealt with but why am I being covered in seaweed again?" Harmony asked.
"To make you look like a ghost" dr Livesley said.
"Mee mee mee mow" Beaker said.
"That�s right,Beaker.More seaweed" dr Livesley agreed.
"Not that you could ever look like one" Jim said.
Harmony looked at Jim with a smile on her face and he suddenly realized what he had said.He blushed but didn�t try to make excuses.
"I�m afraid it�s the only way" Captain Smollett cut in "They believe that you died while falling off the cliff. You�re the best weapon we have right now"
"How do you know this is even going to work?" Harmony asked.
"We recaptured the ship this way,mr Arrow pretended to be a ghost and it scared the pirates" Jim said.
"Wait a minute,this may work on all those half-brained numbskulls that call themselves pirates but it�s not going to work on Long John" Harmony said.
"It wont have to,once all the pirates are gone Long John will be on his own and he�ll have no choice but to give up" Jim said.
Harmony nodded reluctantly,she was still very sceptical and not at all pleased with having to go out there dressed as some kind of sea monster.
