Gollum guided Frodo and Sam to Mordor and although Sméagol thought to control Gollum,Gollum eventually won and tried to take the ring from Frodo.When Frodo refused to throw the Ring into the pits of Mount Doom,Gollum came along and bit Frodo's finger off,falling into the chasm with the Ring.
