Lauren's first full-length, officially released solo CD. All songs written by Lauren Frost and Matt Scutt except "Whatever Happens" which was written by Bill Withers and Larry Carlton, and "Promised" which was written by Chas Dewey. Along with the cover packaging, Words for the Birds includes a supplemental eight-page booklet which features lyrics, photos, and special thanks.

Earlier, stripped-down versions of "Heavy in Your Shoes," "Cheezits," "Take It Slow," and "Drop Off My Heart" had appeared on Lauren's MySpace Page.

One of the most emotional songs on the CD, "Promised" was written by Chas Dewey. You may remember Chas Dewey from the Even Stevens episodes, "Stevens Manor" and "A Quest for Coolness" where he played one-half of the twins with his brother, Chris. Sadly, Casand "Chas" Dewey died on June 25, 2005. In the liner notes of Words for the Birds, Lauren writes, "In memory of Chas Dewey, I miss your smile, brother 'Rock & Roll.'"
