So you want to know a little more about me?

My Mommy's name is Robin and my Daddy's name is Rich.  They had been married for almost 10 years before they decided that it was time to add me to the family.

My Mommy did real well when I first began to grow, although she says that I made her tummy upset a lot.  She did get real sick with bronchitis for two months and she lost 18 pounds.  Mommy has chronic hypertension (high blood pressure) and she took a lot of medication to help
control it when I was inside her.  She knew something wasn't quite right and kept telling the doctors, so when I was 28 weeks along, Mommy went to the doctors, where they told her they wanted her to go to the hospital for a while to keep me safe inside.  She ended up staying for four weeks, because they told her I was really small for my age, and her blood pressure was really high.

Mommy had tests done everyday (she had 47 non-stress tests, and 26 ultrasounds) to see how I was doing, and on my birthday, I wasn't getting enough oxygen, and she got REAL sick (HELLP, or haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low platelets), and then my placenta broke free (Placenta Abruptio) from Mommy, so I couldn't breathe at all.  I wanted to meet my parents, and even though I was small and it was a little early, the doctors decided to do a cesarean section on Mommy, or I might not survive, so I was born on June 3, 1999, eight weeks early, weighing 2 lbs. and 9oz.  I was 15 1/2 inches tall. (Mommy says she even felt it and it really hurt!)

I was very small for my age, about 4 weeks smaller than they thought I should be... this is called "intrauterine growth restriction" or IUGR.  (This was because I wasn't getting enough oxygen from Mommy to grow right, due to the high blood pressure.)   I was so skinny that my arms were no bigger than my Mommy's fingers and my legs were no bigger than her thumb.  My poor Mommy and Daddy were so scared, but I knew I would be alright.

I stayed in the hospital for 22 days while I grew bigger and bigger, and I came home on June 25th weighing 3 1/2 pounds.

I had some problems with my tummy a lot, and I cried and cried for a long time.  The doctors did all kinds of testing on me, and finally agreed that I had a formula intolerance and reflux,  and put me on medicine.  I was also on a special formula that was broken down and easier for me to digest.

At eight months, I was diagnosed with mild Cerebral Palsy (CP) and Sensory Integration Defensiveness (SID).  I receive physical, occupational and speech therapy to help me with my problems, and I am trying to get better at things. I still do not eat (drink yummy Pediasure!!) but other than being kind of small, I am doing GREAT!

I am now over three years old and changing all the time.  I love to play with Mommy and Daddy, love water, Dora The Explorer, Barbie's, dresses and I am generally pretty happy!! I love to play with my kitty cat, Tigger, and swinging on my swingset!  I also love reading books, coloring, and I have lots of friends that I love to play with.

I am my parent's only child, but I have a lot of family.  I love my cousins and Aunt and Uncles!  I know Heavenly Father blessed my family and I, and we are very grateful to be together.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my story....check back every now and then and I will tell you what I am up too!!
