Catholics on Mary
The Catholic Church holds Mary in very high regard.  Catholics believe that Mary is below Jesus in status, but she is above the saints.  Some Catholics even "regard Mary as a co-redemptorix with Jesus (Religious Tolerance)."  "As a mother of the Christ whose life we live, Mary is also the mother of the whole church."  Catholics believe that Mary is an "outstanding model in faith and charity..."  "The Catholic Church honors her with filial affection and devotion as a most beloved mother" (The Redemptorists 23).  Catholics pray to Mary asking for her intercession with God for us all.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that she is "clearly the mother of the members of Christ."
