Catholics on Confirmation
Confirmation is a sacrament that Catholics go through when they become adults.  "Confirmation is the sacrament by which those born anew in baptism receive the seal of the Holy Spirit, the Gift of the Father" (The Redemptorists 34).  Confirmation is the "initiation into the life of adult Christian witness" (Catholic Online).  The priest moistens his thumb with chrism, the blessed mixture of olive oil and balsam, and he traces the sign of the cross on the person being confirmed.  "This act is a laying on of hands, which is an actual part of the sacrament going back to the time of the apostles" (The Redemptorists 35).  According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops the age at which one should receive the sacrament of confirmation will be between "the age of discretion and about sixteen years of age" (Catholic Online).
