Catholics on Confession
Catholics go to confession to confess their sins to a priest.  The priest then gives them penance (an act one must perform in order to repent for their sins; doing something like prayer or a kind act) in order for them to receive absolution (forgiveness of sin or sins) from their sins.  Catholics believe that in order to receive forgiveness for your sins you must be truly sorry for the sin(s) that you committed. They confess their sins to a priest so that someone can counsel them and give them support through the process of obtaining absolution.  Catholics believe that they are confessing to God through their priest.
