Protestants on Authority in the Church
Protestants believe that the authority is within the believer (Religious Tolerance).  They believe that people should have the right to read the Bible and interpret it on their own.  They also believe that it is the duty of the Christian Laity to read the Bible and interpret it; and it is also their job to "take part in the government and public affairs of the Church (New Advent)."
