Task Description
One of the volunteers is supervising youths in the CTC during Open
hours (every Thursday evening from 5:30 - 7:00 pm). The other two
residental volunteers are helping out during the day. All of them will
be teaching computer classes in the month of August.
Challenge
* Computer maintenance remains to be the biggest challenges. It is time
consumming and frustrating to fix hardware and software problems due
to user downloading and mis-use of PCs. The half-time Lab Assistant
that we'll hire would solve some of these problems.
* Obtaining the necessary software, scanner and printer for computer
classes is another major challenge.
Accomplishments
* Established a set of rules and regulations for the users
* Started issuing Photo IDs for users
* Set up computer classes for the months of August
* Recruited instructors for the computer classes
* Launched the current web site for the Laurel Tree CTC

* Interacting and communicating with youths and adults at the CTC
* Identifying and working with volunteers to prepare for the computer
classes
* Taking photos of the youths and working with them in the lab
