With the hiring of a learning center assistant at Laurel Tree CTC, my role at MAAC has been shifted from a technology coordinator to a technical consultant. I will be devoting my time in GIS application, web site design and computer training. Pete, the new assistant has been taken over the day-to-day operation of the Laurel Tree CTC, including support and maintenance of the workstations at the center.
Challenge
* Learning the new GIS software - ArcView.
* Understanding the needs and exploring the capabilities and limitations of
ArcView.
* Collecting and Converting databases from Census Bureau, SanGIS and
Sandag.
Accomplishments
* Started a project with Carlos on housing development using a parcel
database.
* Developed a prototype for mapping the community resource in Carlsbad.
* Began working with the youth on web site design.
