![]() You'll feel like Hong Kong in this gown utilizing a Hong Kong cheongsam bodice and full skirt. The cheongsam, cantonese for "long dress," it is itself a blend of British styling with the qi pau Chinese dress. However where the qi pau is loose, the cheongsam is skin tight. That's why we improved it with a full skirt, full enough to comfortably twirl away on the dance floor.
Upon the skirt is a lace overskirt. In our prototype seen here, we used full dragon brocade for the bodice with white decorative frogs. There's no mandarin collar to accommodate our back zipper and we kept the sleeves short. The skirt is white with a red lace for the overskirt-a beautiful use of the red, gold, and white colors. Silk brocade is suggested for the bodice, though other fabrics are doable too. Our dragon brocade is available in about eight colors, combinations. The overskirt can be in either the background or foreground color, depending on your preference and fabric availablity. The perfect holiday or attendant gown for occasions where a bit of China is called for. The gown has lots of color and texture and is visually interesting without a lot of extra touches. The basic dress lace used in the prototype is a good choice for cost efficiency. Overall, a beautiful, versitle gown |
