AmeriCorps Volunteer, Montana Technology Corps 9/2002 – 7/2004

Technology Coordinator at Clinton School, Clinton, Montana.
The Montana Technology Corps seeks to “bridge the digital divide” in
Montana.
Projects include:

·         Evening Adult Education courses: designed, advertised and instructed Basic Computing & Internet, Microsoft Office, Basic Web Design, Photoshop and Photo Editing classes;

·         Assisted Kindergarten through 8th grade teachers with use of computer lab, including international e-mail pen pals, Webquests and technology lesson plans for all ages, developing the school website and publishing the school yearbook;

·         Designed and instructed Technology Development Classes for Teachers at Clinton School during summer and PIR days for teachers’ Office of Public Instruction Renewal Credits

·         After-school Computer Club for 3rd – 5th grades;

·         Opened the computer lab to the public one night per week;

·         Recruited and developed a volunteer base of community members, willing to assist with Adult Education, Open Lab Nights and Computer Club.

Communications Assistant, Women’s Opportunity & Resource Center 6/2003 – 12/2003

WORD is a nonprofit organization committed to the empowerment of women through education, direct services, community outreach, the changing of public policy, and the development of affordable housing. Assistant to Project Director, responsible for maintenance and content of www.montanapirc.org, www.wordinc.org, and weekly email newsletter, MPIRC Online, distributed to over 400 parents, teachers and administrators across Montana. Designed and distributed informational postcards, flyers, brochures and conference materials.

 

Freelance Graphic Artist, Missoula Montana, 9/2002 – present

Clients include: Montana Water Trust, Yoga Fitness Center. Freelance graphic design services primarily for print and publication (brochures, letterhead, newsletters, flyers, wedding invitations) and some web-design. (see Portfolio)

 

Production Assistant, Avalon Travel Publishing 2/2001 – 8/2002

Assisted Production Department with text layout in Quark and Pagemaker format; graphic sourcing and management; book jacket design in Quark and Photoshop; proofreading and corrections. Also responsible for Print and Reprint schedules, including drafting spec sheets, obtaining and organizing quotes from printers, and maintaining book shipping schedules. Developed database in Filemaker Pro to more accurately track production, printing and shipping schedules.

 

Immigration and International Recruiting Coordinator, MARCHfirst  3/1998 – 2/2001

Responsible for all immigration for foreign-national employees: H1B, H4, TN, B2, L1 visas, and greencards. Processed over 200 visas, and 75 greencards. Project Manager for International Relocation project: designed and coordinated international relocation/assimilation program.  Implemented national training program for recruiters and human resource personnel in over 20 Whittman-Hart branches.

Technical Skills

Expert in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher, Outlook); Quark and Adobe Photoshop; proficient in ImageReady, Illustrator, Pagemaker, Microsoft FrontPage, ATM, and Filemaker Pro.  Experience with HTML, Dreamweaver, Anarchie, WS-FTP, Macromedia Freehand, Flash, and other web-publishing applications. Some familiarity with Microsoft Windows Networking Administration; excellent technical trouble-shooting skills.

Comfortable on both PC and Mac platforms.
