Brighid

The Irish Goddess Brighid is my patroness. I am learning about Her daily, and I expect this shrine to change as my understanding of Her deepens. This will primarily be a place where I will offer Her my poetry and my honor.

Brigid has three aspects. She is seen as a Mother Goddess and a protectress and champion of women and children. She is also a Fire Goddess, keeper of the forge, inspirer of smiths and poets. She is Healer, Her well in Kildare still being sacred and special to those who visit.

The Pagan holiday of Imbolc (celebrated in many traditions on February 1st) is often called Brighid's Day and is Her highest holiday. The blackberry is sacred to Her.

I have recently discovered a few wonderful websites where those interested in learning more about Brighid will find very useful information.

Crosaire Brighid -- Brighid's Crossing
This is the home of Ord Brighideach. I have recently applied to be a member of this group. I have requested membership in the Laurel Cell.

Crossroads Imbolc Offering
This page is an excellent resource for information about the Lady Brighid and Imbolc, the High Holy Day associated with Her.
