I took a while and went through each link, reading the little text boxes, and enjoying the nostalgic pictures before deciding that this was "the one." I think most of you will enjoy this web site, especially if you like fashion and/or the game of baseball. With that in mind, the Blue Marlin Company's web site is an example of "good style" because it follows many of the "good style" guidelines that we have studied. The Yale C/AIM Guide explains that a good web site contains "a good balance between visual sensation, text information, and interactive hypermedia links." Blue Marlin came up with a site that incoporates these characteristics beautifully. The Blue Marlin Corporation's web site is very tasteful and out-of-the-ordinary... sit back and enjoy!
In designing this web site, I learned that creativity and good "style" are two things that set some web sites apart from the rest. Creating a web page is time-consuming and detail-oriented, requiring patience and a pretty good understanding of the World Wide Web. I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to learn the basics of web page design and now I am more critical and appreciative of the good and not-so-good sites out there. For this assignment I looked through many different web sites to try finding something that I truly liked and wouldn't mind critiquing. Upon visiting the Project Cool Sightings Page, I came across a favorite from July 2000 called www.bluemarlincorp.com , the home page of the Blue Marlin Clothing Company. This was interesting because it dealt with fashion and a label I was unfamiliar with, so naturally I was curious. This web site definetly had "style."
