Statement of beliefs about the learning process

Education is a social process ... Education is growth.... Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself.
   -- John Dewey

I strongly agree with John Dewey's views of education.  I have always enjoyed school, and I feel that it has been a very positive experience for me because of my teachers.  My teachers made the school environment one in which my peers and I could learn and grow, while developing friendships and forming relationships with our peers. I feel that school provides individuals with the opportunity to learn how to interact with others in a public setting.  Through these situations we not only receive an education of general knowledge, but we also learn how to interact with others and how to treat others.  The education experience should provide students with the opportunity to grow and thrive.  I also feel that education should not stop when a diploma has been earned or a degree has been obtained.  I believe that education should be a lifelong pursuit of all individuals.  It is the responsibility of the educators to instill this desire in students.  If educators make the learning process an enjoyable experience, then students are going to want to continue learning and growing throughout their life.
