She'd been on the road it seemed, forever. Nowhere had she felt safe, nowhere had she stayed for long. She'd done things she wasn't proud of, things that were necessary, but they had been hard, and carried a price. Other times odd things had happened, and she knew that somehow, she was the cause. But finally she had found.... something. It was like a trail through the air. She'd followed it out of her own country and far to the south into this one, she'd followed it all the way across the continent. Now she was close enough to smell and taste it, and it tasted safe. There was peril there, but somehow, she knew it was not dangerous for her, whatever she had turned out to be.

She tried finding it with her eyes first, and failed. She couldn't smell it, or rather she could smell it too well, the smell was all around her, engulfing her, and so it was directionless. She did notice an odd nearly musical note that sighed between the waves of the aethers, like breathing, and that was how she finally found the door.

There was something odd about the door, and it took her a while to figure out that what was odd was not the door itself, but that the door was all she saw. It had been a long time since her vision had been normal, another side effect of whatever changes were happening within her, but never before had anything like this happened. It didn't matter much. Inside that door was safety.

Pyry raised her small fist and knocked on the door.

From: Josephine_Maia

Reply to: litaliamarie [ Message 224 ]

Aradia does not speak for some time, but sits there, looking into Virani's eyes. The young witch is so pure, so innocent. That is one of the primary sources of her nascent power.

"I have not yet decided if calling a Gathering here was a mistake," Aradia tells her. "But now I am certain you being here is. Star, Selah and I can form a Triad more than sufficient to deal with the vampires, if it ever came to that. Do not take this wrong, Sister, but your presence here at this time is not necessary. More importantly, the company of vampires will surely prove inimical to your Spirit, the very fountainhead of your powers."

Aradia does not enjoy the responsibilities her position in the Sisterhood frequently imposes upon her. She sighs before concluding, "As much as I personally would like it if you stayed, for the good of All, and especially for your own well-being, I think it best if you return home at the first opportunity. Of course, you should join us again later if it becomes appropriate.

Aradia sighs, "As much as I personally would like it if you stayed, for the good of All, and especially for your own well-being, I think it best if you return home at the first opportunity. Of course, you should join us again later if it becomes appropriate."

The look on Virani's face at that moment is much like that of a stricken child. She starts to protest but only sighs and quietly replies, "As much as I hate leaving here without you all, I am in no position to argue with someone of your stature within the Sisterhood. She gently kisses Aradia and disappears from the room before anything else may be said.

Once she is alone in her own room, she finds that Adrian is waiting for her on the end of the large bed, at the feet of the girl. He gives her a sympathetic look and she starts filling her bag with her personal belongings. She decides while she in packing that she won't go home but perhaps find a new place to stay. She leaves a note saying goodbye and if they ever need her help for anything feel free to call on her, for her Sisters on the small mirrored vanity, she's never been very good with goodbyes, which may explain why she has lived such a solitary life since she left the first time.

Ad crawls on top of her shoulder, refusing to be put inside that qretched bag again for such a long trip. She slips her cloak around her shoulders, making sure not to crush him, and walks out the door, neglecting to look back in case she's forgotten anything.

Silently she departs the house and enters the woods, following the stars that make up Orion, hoping they will lead her somewhere good rather than ill.

Belle loiters in bed, savoring the remaining embers of Dahlia's fiery passion... still burning upon the bruises in her skin, the tooth-marks on her breast, and as a lingering, delicate heat pulsing subtly deep within her.

Only the sound of Dahlia turning the shower spigot finally rouses Belle. She pulls the winkled nightshirt off over her head and sets it in a hamper for the butler to retrieve. She trusts Briant will repair the seam Dahlia split in her violent ardor.

Comfortably naked, Belle pads across the boudoir and slips into Dahlia's bathroom. For a moment she just stands there, listening to the water splashing against her lover's body, and reaffirming to herself her right to share even Dahlia's most private places.

Smiling at that thought, and to confirm it, Belle calls over the sound of the shower, "So, do you need someone to scrub your back?"

Subject: Up On the Roof {Aradia/Dusty/Selah}

From: Kamala

Reply to: litaliamarie [ Message 233 ]

"Whoa! Hold on there, Star," Selah laughed out as she grabbed her sister around the waist and steadied her against the door. Obviously this was going to be a challenge getting her already drunk counterpart up the narrow stairs to the roof. Selah repositioned their goodies then looped one free arm around Star and slowly they made their way towards the entrance.

"Selah! Stardust! Wait up." Selah turned quickly towards the familiar voice, Star's limbered but heavy form following closely.

"How are you feeling, Aradia?"

"Strange and still slightly disoriented. The images still play in my mind but their effects are not as pronounced." There was a far off look in Aradia's eyes and Selah knew not only Star would benefit from the fresh air.

"Come join us," Selah began, "We are heading up to the roof. I think we all need to get out of the manor for awhile."

Stardust shakes off her sister, "I can walk..." Concentrating very hard Star manages to make several steps before weaving a bit.

Selah comes up behind her with amusement on her face, "I'm sure you can Star, but how about you let Aradia and I walk with you?" She takes one of Star's arms and winks at Aradia. "It's been so long since the three of us were together..."

"Welllllllllllllllllll, if you put it like that...ok." Star holds out her other arm for Aradia and the three walk to the stairs together.

At the stairs, Selah leads the way, with Star grabbing the back of her shirt for support, causing her sister to giggle. Aradia follows behind the inebriated Star, in case she falls backwards. She wonders why her cousin is in this state and thinks that earlier events might have precipitated her intoxication.

The trio manage to make it up to the roof and the view of the stars is stunning for all three. "Wow," says Stardust. "It is bootiful up here."

"Yes it is," Selah agreed, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Come cousins, let us sit and catch up, it has been a long time," Aradia said as she took the blanket from Selah's shoulder and spread it along the craggy surface. "Come across any interesting scrolls lately?"

Selah paused, an unwelcome blush creeping into her cheeks. Quickly she gulped down her drink to cover her guilty expression. "Um, yeah, actually I have." Selah glanced quickly towards Star, noticing the slightly raised brows and interested look.

"I've come across ones that . . . well, that are used to call the demons of anarchy, illusion and vanity. . . and one that's used for succubi. Some others as well," Selah finished hastily, purposefully omitting her current scrollwork.

Star looks at her sister, a mixture of emotions playing across her face. Selah's scrollwork has always eluded Stardust. For one thing, it was a lot of work, something Star generally tries to avoid. And secondly and more important, unlocking scrolls was dangerous. Star knew it intuitively, but she and her sister had never discussed it. Unlocking a scroll meant you had to defeat the spell keeping the scroll locked. And many witches and wizards would leave nasty surprises for those who tried. It was hard for Stardust to reconcile her quiet safe sister in this dangerous, dangerous profession. Perhaps more had changed in the three years she was gone then she realized...

"Are you working on any scrolls now?" She cautiously asks.

Leaning back on her elbows, Selah gazed absently into the night sky before answering her sister. "Yeah." How could she even explain this one when she herself didn't understand what she was experiencing? "I have no idea what it is. I've been working on it for over a month and still it's blocking me. It's frustrating, draining. . . It's almost an obsession now."

"Selah..." Stardust starts to speak, concern evident in her voice, then looks to her cousin for help.

Despite the unconscious prey over his shoulder, Guillaume has no trouble making his way through the dense forest. The woman is relatively short and petite, especially in consideration of her apparent profession. As he approaches Crimson Kiss Manor, however, Guillaume hesitates, seeing a figure silhouetted in the open doorway.

He watches as Dahlia's butler allows the stranger to enter. Guillaume does not recognize her as Kindred, and assumes she must be one of the witches gathering to claim Sanctuary. Deciding it better not to encounter her in the foyer while lugging Narcissa's inaugural feast, Guillaume loops around to the rear of the mansion to use the backdoor Dahlia had shown him the night before.

She'd felt someone pass through the woods behind her as the butler was letting her in the front door, but had decided (as he seemed to want to be left alone) not to acknowledge his presence. The butler hadn't spoken to her yet, they had just kind of stared at each other, and he had a bit of a confused look on his face. She knew that he wasn't human, or wasn't human anymore, but she had no idea of what he actually was. She held out her hand. "Pyry." she said, and then just stood there, feeling stupid, dirty and out of place. Maybe I should leave, she thought, and was suddenly angry. A twelve foot wall of flame shot across the room, missing the butler by less than an inch.....

~*Dahlia hears Belle enter the bathroom and is slightly shocked at her boldness, but then remembers who she's dealing with. Belle wasn't Natasha. Natasha would have laid in bed and not moved until Dahlia had given her permission. She wouldn't have drawn breath without Dahlia by her side, let alone feed. She had been an obediant little Childe. Belle on the other hand....*~

~*Dahlia sighs as Belle makes her proposal. Of course....all was forgotten, forgiven and was well again. At least, so they must make it seem. Lies were good things occasionally. They buried thoughts and feelings that were bitter and painful...no matter how honest.*~

~*She loved Belle. She truly did. But one thing Belle neglected to remember, or honestly didn't know...what who SHE was dealing with. An age-old vampiress that had seen more carnage, caused more bloodshed and misery, than Belle could possibly imagine. Her mind flashes back to the night she and Natasha had raided the bar. Ohhh, but that night had been marvellous! The dark, the screams, the blood...and the absolutely fantastic sex that had followed. Her fangs extend just thinking about it. Yes, she was a jaded woman, indeed.*~

~*Dahlia loved Belle...but she would never let her override her authority. She was the superior woman in this household, and Belle would do good to remember it. As if this morning's events just a few moments ago weren't evidence enough.*~

"If you feel it necessary." Dahlia replies.

Subject: First Communion [Guillaume]

From: Anborn

Reply to: Anborn [ Message 236 ]

As he carries the prey through the mansion's wide corridors, Guillaume is surprised to sniff the sharp scent of flame wafting from the foyer. Detecting nothing in the aroma suggesting actual combustion of wood or fabric, Guillaume ignores this mystery. He has a vital duty to fulfill.

He enters the parlor, and finds Narcissa where he left her, on the couch near the hearth. Guillaume lays the mortal woman he has brought from outside on another sofa, one perpendicular to that on which Narcissa reclines. Kicking the coffee table out of the way, he pushes the two sofas together so that the women lay side-by-side.

Guillaume frowns at the young woman who is to become Narcissa's First Feast. He is unfamiliar with the particular uniform, but its blue color and the silver badge above her left breast can mean only one thing. Normally, Guillaume goes to great lengths to avoid rousing the local authorities wherever he resides. In this instance, he has no choice.

He had planned that during Narcissa's first stages of transformation, he would go hunting with Dahlia, as he had done two nights earlier, while Belle was in the same state. Dahlia knows the countryside, and good sources for prey. As a newcomer, Guillaume has little idea where to look.

By the time it seemed Dahlia was not going to emerge from her boudoir this evening, it was too late. Guillaume decided the only hope of coming back with prey for Narcissa was to return to the same tavern at which he and Dahlia had so successfully hunted the night before last. Although he had never driven a motorcar, Guillaume was confident he would quickly master it. It certainly appeared much easier than ridding a horse, at which he has been expert for eight centuries.

But when he arrived at the roadside, Belle's roadster, and the late Becky's uncomfortable little auto were both gone. In their place was a large automobile with rotating blue and red lights on its roof. The apparent mistress of this contraption was walking along the edge of the roadway, examining the gravel by the illumination of an electrical torch.

For a moment, Guillaume had considered taking the officer's car. But he immediately realized that before he could decipher its controls, the woman would be upon him and he would have to kill her anyway. That being so, he might as well make the best possible use of her. So he brought her here for Narcissa.

Guillaume gently lifts Narcissa's head and carefully places her mouth onto the other woman's neck, directly above her jugular. Putting his lips near Narcissa's ear, her speaks loudly, confident that to her it will sound like a distant whisper.

"NARCISSA, Darling! I know you feel terribly weak. That's because YOU MUST EAT! There is food at your mouth... At your teeth... Bite down, my dearest... BITE!"

Narcissa's finally complies. Her relatively dull mortal teeth tear into the vein. Because she is above the other woman, little of the gore stains Narcissa's face as it flows down her victim's neck. Guillaume repositions Narcissa's head so that most of the blood pulses into her mouth.

"Drink, Darling, drink, and soon immortality is yours!" Guillaume urges her. "DRINK!!!"

::The scent of another lying next to her arouses her senses, but not enough to waken her completely. With Guillaumes help, she manages to lazily roll on top of the woman and is commanded to bite into her neck. The flesh is difficult to pierce, but with a few bites, she manages to tear off some flesh and partake of this womans blood. It is a bit sickly tasting...metallic, but it doesn't matter. She is hungry for the blood...the power of it overtakes her and the life she once had is now gone. As the blood flows into her stomach, it makes her physically ill. She wretches over the woman, uncontrollably gagging and some of the blood comes back up splattering across the woman's uniform. But the hunger continues, as does her drinking. Now, the blood is sweet and fills her. She lustfully drinks from the woman grabbing her hair and chewing at the muscle and flesh to get every last drop of the precious blood. The woman, who has been unconscious is now dead, covered in blood and laying lifeless on the couch. She looks up wildly at Guillaume, her eyes that of a animal caught in bloodlust. Her breathing is heavy and pierced with wheezes as she takes deep breaths in. She lifts herself from the woman and she feels as if she weighs two tons...her face, hands, neck and hair are stained with drying blood and she looks savage to Guillaume. She merely stands there motionless as if in some kind of phase of transformation from human to inhuman. She stands there for a good 5 minutes and her breathing calms down. She blinks and looks to Guillaume then to the officer on the couch. She knows what just happened, but it just seems like a dream. Reality starts to sink in and even though the bloodlust is strong, she knows what this woman is...she becomes frightened never having experienced this before.::

"This is a cop! You let me kill a cop? Shit Guillaume! What if they come looking for her?"

::Having had a few run ins with the police in the past, of course, this makes her very nervous. She runs a nervous hand through her hair hoping Guillaume will have a calm answer for her on how he will take care of this.::

Aradia's sees the appeal for assistance in Star's eyes. This time she acts less out of her responsibility to the Sisterhood than her love for her cousins.

"Selah," Aradia begins in her gentlest voice. "You really should not exclude us from these things... you shouldn't hide your concerns. You know there are things we can do as a Triad...."

Before she can finish, they all turn suddenly as reflected firelight briefly illuminates the forest in front of the mansion. Even seeing it indirectly, they all recognize its unique blue color before it fades away.

"What the hell?" Star exclaims.

"It would appear another Sister has arrived," Aradia observes quietly.

"Right," Stardust agrees, jumping to her feet. "And it looks like she's in trouble!"

Aradia stands also, and helps Selah to her feet. "That doesn't make sense; this is 'Sanctuary.' But I think we had better go see what's going on."

Guillaume smiles. "Did I not tell you this is a place of safety? No one will find Crimson Kiss who does not belong here. To find this place takes a certain... ability... to see beyond the obvious. The gendarmerie are notoriously blind to anything that does not fit their notion of reality. And Briant is quite adept at disposing of bodies so that they are never found."

He steps forward and gently runs the fingertips of his left hand from her right cheekbone to her chin. He then examines the blood on his fingers.

"Dawn approaches," he tells her. "I imagine you will want to clean up before going to bed. May I escort you to your room?"

The flames winked out of existance as a massive wave of power slammed against Pyry's new senses, knocking her flat. Hot enough to burn blue, when the flame was gone it was as if it had never been. There was no heat trace in the air, no singeing or burning, not even the hot metal smell of ozone was left. At first, Pyry didn't realize what had happened, she just blinked up at the tree limbs above her. Getting her feet back under her was not helped at all by her new ability to see the life of the tree softly glowing around it. Something else new to figure out, it seemed. Whatever had unleashed that enormous amount of energy at it's awakening had apparently shaken something loose within her as well. She wondered if this sort of thing was going to happen often here. She decided it probably was. She further decided to stay right where she lay.

The butler appeared in her field of vision and expecting a kick (he smelled that irritated,) she went absolutely and completly limp, promising herself not to react to anything, she'd nearly jumped out of her skin when the flames had erupted. The butler picked her up, and that was when she noticed that unlike the tree, he had little or no life-glow to him.......something else was there instead, almost like a black aura, an anti-life glow, and the scent of a predator. A little afraid, she decided to revise her view on exactly what "not reacting" entailed.

The centuries-old vampire meets her gaze, reflecting its youthful passion. "You are most welcome, my dear, but the pleasure is mine. I have been on my own for a long time... too long, I've come to realize. I have not shared my life with a Chylde... a pupil, that is... in over two hundred years."

Keeping her hand in his, he leads her down the corridor. "Of course, there are things you need to understand. Like any society, our Kindred have certain customs and mores that you would do well to learn. It is my duty, as the one who Sired you, to teach you. All I ask in return is that you listen to what I have to tell you, and give it the respect eight centuries of accumulated experience deserves."

They arrive outside Narcissa's door. Guillaume smiles at her. "Shall we say goodnight now? Or -- I understand this has been a momentous evening, and you may have many questions or things you would like to discuss -- would you prefer for me to wait in your suite while you bathe, so that we can talk further after you are out of the tub?"

Subject: Reality [Guillaume]

From: Anborn

Reply to: Narcissa_ [ Message 247 ]

Guillaume follows Narcissa into her room and smiles when she casually disrobes in his presence. The reason for his grin is not simply that which a man would normally have in response to such an action by a beautiful lady. Although that is certainly part of it as he openly admires the perfect feminine form the now discarded dress had barely hidden.

More importantly to Guillaume, Narcissa already demonstrates many of the attitudes that typically distinguish vampires from mortals, including a certain comfort in her sexuality. Guillaume suspects this is a trait she brings with her from her prior life, simply enhanced by her transformation.

Likewise, Guillaume has noted her apparent lack of remorse for killing the young policewoman in the other room. Narcissa's concerns had been entirely practical, not ethical. Guillaume becomes more convinced than ever that Narcissa will prove an ideal partner in bringing to fruition his hopes for revitalizing Kindred society.

He settles into a chair in the corner of the bedchamber as she enters the bathroom. He waits patiently while she fills the tub. He hears her slip into the water and start to wash, at which time Narcissa begins the inevitable, and welcome, questions regarding her new existence.

"You will not need to feed daily," Guillaume explains. "In fact, depending on how active you are, you can go weeks, even months without seeking human prey. Indeed, we really cannot starve to death.... Once the Hunger arises, we simply grow continually weaker the longer we go without human blood. That can eventually lead to permanent unconsciousness, unless blood is supplied. Animal blood can alleviate that somewhat, but eventually human prey is required."

Guillaume thinks of the fledgling vampires he has known over the centuries who tried to abstain from human blood out of residual moral concerns. They eventually surrendered to the cravings, usually with a vengeance.

"Oh, and don't worry about that 'cross' nonsense," Guillaume adds. "That is pure myth. I cannot tell you how many times I've batted aside a crucifix or Bible some prey has held up to try to ward me off. The look of surprised horror when they realize they have been misinformed by their priests is pathetic. It almost makes me feel sorry for them. Faith has its place, I am sure... but in a struggle for your life, you should rely on something more tangible."

Guillaume sighs, and notices the silence from the other room.

"We prey on humans, my dear," he reminds Narcissa. "That is a fact to which you need to adjust. I hope I have not shocked you."

Her hair is dripping a bit as she stands in the doorway as he finishes his last sentence. 'I hope I haven't shocked you' he says. She shrugs her shoulders with little regard to human life now. Perhaps the contempt for humans has always festered deep within her, even though she was one...perhaps it was the way she was treated all these years that gives in to those feelings.::

"Shocked? No...I suppose all those vampire movies kind of made me envious of this life...so I knew what to expect going in."

::She makes her way over to him still wrapped in her towel and stands before him.::

"Besides...I don't think I would necessarily mind seeing the human race suffer by my hands."

"Although I would have a problem killing children. I don't think I can do that. They are too innocent. But some of those dirtbags in the city....well...they are going to be quite surprised..."

::An evil grin parts her lips as she stares off past him towards the window. He can see her obviously starting to plot her next moves by taking leave into the city when she can. Her mind is possibly moving faster than he'd prefer about this new life of hers. With that, she drops the towel and moves to the bed placing herself beneath the covers. She knows it will be dawn soon and her emerald gaze moves back to him.::

Four slender finger appear over the top of the sheets and pull them down to expose Belle's face, puffy-eyed and streaked with tears.

"I don't want to cause you confusion, or distress you in any way," Belle whispers hoarsely. "I love you; I just want to make you happy."

She sees Dahlia hesitating, looking to find the right words to reply. Belle wants to be sure they have plenty of time to work all this out before they again confront the others, especially Narcissa and Guillaume. So Belle suggests, "Look, it's already quite late. Briant can see to your guests. What if we just stay in here, alone together tonight?"

Laura is relieved to confirm that Tricia is sound asleep and probably did not hear what Laura was doing in the tub. Laura is about to turn away to go to bed when Tricia sits up and screams in apparent terror.

As Laura hurriedly crosses the room to her friend, she sees that Tricia's eyes are wide open, staring at something far beyond the bedroom wall. Laura jumps up onto the bed and kneels right in front of Tricia, trying to catch her gaze. Laura seizes Tricia's shoulders and starts shaking her gently, while shouting, "Tricia! Wake up! It's just a nightmare. WAKE UP!"

Adrenalin replacing, or at least masking the alcohol in her system, Stardust jumps up from her seat, attention focused on display of magic she and her comrades had just seen.

She races down the stairs to find the source of the power they had witnessed. Quickly she arrives in the living room and sees the butler standing over a woman who appears to be unconscious. Looking at the butler she asks, "Yours?"

He shakes his head in the negative. "I'm not sure quite what happened. I opened the door and she shot a flame at me! Or at least, it appeared that way. She is with your group?"

Star shakes her head in the negative, and feels the presence of Aradia and Selah behind her. "Not that I know of..."

"Perhaps it would be best if we take care of this young woman." Aradia states.

Briant nods his head in approval.

Star reaches down and picks the woman up. She follows Selah and Aradia to their wing. *I wonder why she attacked the butler with flame.* she thinks to herself.

She is about to put the woman in her room when Aradia says, "You can put her in Virani's room, Star."

Stardust turns around and gives her cousin a confused look. Selah and Star can both see the pain in Aradia's eyes. "Virani had to leave. I think it is best if we put this woman in there. We can get more answers from her when she reawakens."

Stardust shrugs. "Ok. Do you think she will be ok in there?"

The late hour has caught up with all three witches, Aradia replies, "I think she will have to, I am too tired to deal with another tonight." Then she realizes that her cousins know nothing of the other young woman. She quickly fills them in, explaining on how before she left, Virani had found a young woman unconscious in the forest outside the mansion, and brought her inside to Virani's own room.

They enter Virani's room, the redheaded girl Virani found is still there on the huge canopied bed. Aradia helps Star set her burden on a sofa near the fireplace.

"I think it would be best if we all got some sleep," Aradia suggests. "Tomorrow should be a busy day."

The sisters nod their ascent and head to their rooms. To sleep, perchance to dream...

As she lays on her bed, Star holds up her injured hand and looks at it. She stares at the spot where two of the splinters left a mark that looks reminescent of a vampire bite. Maybe I should just let one of the bloodsuckers, suck me dry... she thinks to herself. Then I can join Jenny...

Tired, she drifts off to sleep.

"Stardust..."

Star sits up on the bed. "Jenny?" The young woman has trouble believing her eyes. "Jenny? Is it really you?"

Jenny comes into view and holds out her arms. "My poor wandering Star..."

"JENNY!" Stardust leaps off the bed and runs to her lover's arms. The two hug for what seems like hours and Jenny leads Star back to the bed. Star touches Jenny's face. "I can't believe you are here...I wanted..."

"Shhhhh," Jenny kisses Star's forhead and smoothes her hair. "Lie back down Star. You are very tired."

Star lies down and puts her head in Jenny's lap. Jenny plays with Star's hair as she talks to her. "You mustn't give your life to the Vampires..."

Stardust starts to protest and Jenny silences her with a finger on the witches lips. "Shhhhh. I know you tried to bring me back last night my love. I can't come back here... You can't bring me back, don't you see? The best of me still lives on..." She takes her finger and touches Star where her heart lays. "My dear wandering Star, I am still alive, I will always be alive, here in your heart. The body you tried to resurrect last night...it's just a body, not me..."

"Jenny..." Star tries to sit up, but find she can't. "Jenny...I can't do this without you. I can't..."

"Shhhh. You'll never have to Star...I will always be here for you." Jenny comforts her. "I will always be a part of you Star. But you have to move on with your life. There are things you still must do, Stardust. But I will always be here for you my love."

"Jenny! Don't go..." Stardust begins to panic.

"Shhhh. I'll stay with you til morning Star, but when you awaken, you must continue on with your life." Jenny lays down next to Star and puts her arms around her lover.

Safe in the comfort of her Jenny's arms, Stardust settles back into a pattern of deep breathing signifing deep sleep. For the first time in a long time, the voices that have been haunting Star are quiet. She sleeps contented, her dreams of Jenny wrapped around her like a blanket.

After Narcissa's unmistakable enticement -- letting her towel drop to the floor after coming to stand before him, then remaining there naked a moment before turning to cross the room and slide into bed -- Guillaume is pleased when she then makes her actual invitation in decorous, even ladylike, terms.

"You know Guillaume..." she begins in a sweet, almost innocent voice. "I would appreciate it if you would stay in here with me tonight. I'm not sure what to expect and a reassuring voice might be needed."

"Indeed," Guillaume agrees as he stands and walks slowly toward her. "Your body is going to be going through some significant changes and it is best if you have someone here to... to help you appreciate what is happening."

He sits on the side of the bed as he explains. "You see, my dear, as a predatory species, vampire senses are preternaturally sharp. When compared to the stifled perception of human experience, you should find all your senses -- sight, hearing, smell, taste and, of course, touch -- are already growing markedly keen. It can be most delightful! The slightest breath upon your skin feels like a refreshing breeze... A hint of cologne seems like a room of fresh cut flowers.... Soon, you will find you want to go and again experience so many things that once seemed stale and mundane to your prior, mortal view of the world.... But for now... why not just take a moment to enjoy the feel of the satin sheets surrounding your body. You should find that the slightest movement against the smooth fabric feels like an ardent caress... while the gentle press of the bedclothes snuggles your skin like a lover's embrace...."

::She lays beneath the covers completely still having already started to feel unusually heightened sensations and unsure how to react. The satin against her skin is soft, exactly like how he describes... a caress. Now that he has told her what she is already suspecting, she moves a bit under the covers a bit embarrassed that even the sheets are arousing to her. Her naked skin is cool beneath the covers and she lets her hand run up her body on top of the sheet. She sighs slightly listening to him and sits up pulling her knees to her chest. She wraps her arms around her legs and toys with the fabric with a fingertip. Her hair curls as it dries against her back and the softness of it sets well against her skin.::

"I'd thought perhaps it was just me.... at least I know what all these sensations are."

::She desperately wants to feel his touch against her skin, but refuses to ask out of embarrassment. She merely sits listening to what he has to say. As he speaks of the mundane things something does click in her head. Now she really wants to get back to the city and revisit her old life... at least for a day. Perhaps things would start to make sense, but first she needs to learn from him. That much is obvious to her, but their relationship now is not.::

"I understand I have a lot to learn Guillaume and of course all questions can wait until the morning. But now that I'm your chylde, what is expected of me? I guess I'm curious about our relationship too...I mean, how am I supposed to.... act... around you?"

::She is curious to know if she is now somehow is lover, child or what exactly. She is sexually drawn to him beyond her control and wants to know if she can act on that or not. She hopes he can feel her sexual tensions building up as he draws near to her.::

Aradia does not return to her own room after Stardust and Selah depart. The fire Virani started in the fireplace in her room before leaving is still burning, and Aradia adds another log. She then opens the chest at the foot of the bed and pulls out three quilted comforters. She lays one over each of the unconscious women. The third she keep for herself as she curls into a chair by the fire.

She considers the two unknown women sleeping near her. The girl in the bed, she suspects, is suffering from a vampire bite. Few things would draw a mortal to a Sanctuary, and that is the most probable cause. It would also explain the girl's unconsciousness. If she had gone too long without the company of the vampire whose Essence has infused her flesh, she must have gone through a long period of physical, psychological and even -- Aradia shudders at the thought -- sexual torment prior to falling into her current stupor.

The other woman -- now sleeping on the couch next to Aradia's chair -- presents a greater mystery. She clearly has an innately magical nature. But she appears human, although she surely is not one of the Sisterhood.

Aradia is still pondering this puzzle when exhaustion finally overcomes her, and she slumps in her chair, sound asleep.

"It is fair to say the relationship between each Sire and Chylde is unique," Guillaume explains to Narcissa. Then, with a meaningful smile, he adds. "It can be whatever they want it to be."

With Narcissa's knees drawn up under her chin, there is room for Guillaume to slide further onto the bed, until he is essentially sitting in front of her as he continues. "That is why I actually prefer the term 'pupil' to 'Chylde.' While recognizing the Sire's greater knowledge and experience, 'pupil' suggests a much more mature and equal relationship. While for the time being you will need me as your guide, even as your master in an instructional sense, I already prefer to think of us as partners. I hope, and suspect, that you desire as much as I do for our partnership to be as close as possible."

He leans forward, bringing his face close to hers. He reaches up with his right hand and strokes her cheek, down along her jaw to behind her ear, then down her neck to rest his palm lightly on her shoulder, gently massaging it with his fingertips. "You are uncommonly beautiful, you know," Guillaume whispers. "And your spirit has a fierce vitality I find fascinating. I will show you just how wondrous a life you have begun, and, unless you wish otherwise, I will delight in sharing with you your coming exploration of everything... everything -- all the joys, amusements and pleasures -- your developing powers and heightened senses have to offer."

Guillaume leans further forward and softly presses his lips to hers as his right hand slowly slides down her naked back.

The desire she feels right now is far more intense then she ever imagined. Her mind is furious with intense passion and the desire to let him overpower her is almost overwhelming. It's at this moment she realizes she will do anything for him...so easy it would be for her to blurt out the words 'I love you', but she is able to refrain from allowing herself to be so easily tempted. His hands slide down the smooth, cool skin of her bare body, discovering her most erogenous places, her most responsive points. Her fingers explore him as well, and soon Guillaume, too, is naked and laying on the bed next to Narcissa.

When they make love, it is with a violent passion Guillaume has not known in centuries, if ever. Heightened sensations combined with extraordinary strength and inhuman stamina make it a wonderfully unparalleled occasion for Narcissa, as well.

Of course, as the intensity of their ardor mounts, fingernails and teeth play the role they often take in the throes of unbridled lust: punctuating paragraphs of excruciating pleasure with phrases of delectable pain. In this case, however, these wounds of love heal almost immediately, and what little blood does spill is not wasted....

"You are the finest lover I've ever had," Narcissa sighs as Guillaume wraps his arms around her.

Guillaume smiles. He knows she means it as a great compliment, and he takes it as such. On the other hand, he does not allow it to go to his head, given Narcissa's youth and the necessarily limited context from which she makes her comparison.

Similarly, he technically cannot return the compliment. At various times during his long life, Guillaume has shared his bed with vampiresses who had literally centuries of practice in the most extraordinary techniques. One even alleged to have "taught Cleopatra everything she knew," and Guillaume had no reason to doubt her.

But all of that pales when compared with the genuine and unlimited passion with which Narcissa had surrendered herself to him. Guillaume actually pays little attention to a lover's particular amorous skills. It is his partner's sincere emotions that truly enhance lovemaking. In that regard, Narcissa has no equal.

Thus, he can honestly respond, "And you, my darling, have already made me happier than I can ever remember being."

Rising onto one elbow, he leans over her and kisses her once again, not with the impassioned hunger of earlier, but this time with the assurance of love.

"Tricia! Wake up!" Laura yells right into her friend's face, as she kneels in front of where Tricia sits up in bed, wide-eyed in apparent terror. "It's just a nightmare. WAKE UP!"

Finally, Tricia blinks, and jerks back when she first focuses on Laura's face. Then, as she comes fully awake, she relaxes and leans forward a bit, taking both of Laura's hands in hers.

"Whoa!" Tricia sighs. "That was some nightmare. Thanks for waking me. I guess you're not the only one who dreams of demons."

Even in the late-night gloom, Tricia finds solace in Laura's sympathetic grin.

"Well," Laura begins. "A few nights ago, when I was the one dreaming of monsters, you helped me sleep by staying next to me. Would you like me to return the favor?"

Despite the darkness, Laura thinks she sees a slight blush rise in Tricia's cheeks, as her friend stammers uncharacteristically. "Y-Yes. I'd like that... like that very much."

A moment later, the two women lay on their sides facing each other under the covers, making small talk. Laura purposely avoids asking about or mentioning Tricia's nightmare, so as to keep it out of her mind. The conversation lags, and soon Laura sees her friend's eyes are closed and her breathing regular.

"Trish?" Laura whispers as softly as possible. "Are you asleep?"

When her friend does not respond, Laura closes her own eyes, but finds that sleep eludes her. She cannot ignore the heat of Tricia's body, scant inches from her own. Despite having no prior lesbian tendencies, and despite her own recent relief, Laura finds herself again becoming markedly aroused.

Laura considers returning to the privacy of her own bedroom, but does not want to break her promise to stay by Tricia as she sleeps, in case she has another nightmare.

In order to resist the almost overwhelming desire to again touch herself, Laura roles onto her stomach and buries her hands under her pillow. Her hips involuntarily thrust against the mattress a few times before Laura stops them through sheer willpower.

Laura does not know how long she lays there like that, gritting her teeth, forcing herself to remain still, until physical and emotional exhaustion finally brings the relief of sleep.

"I will do whatever it takes to make you happy, Guillaume," Narcissa promises as she settles back onto her pillow.

"I have no doubt of that, my love," Guillaume responds softly. "And I will keep you safe, and show you the way to power, fulfillment and joy."

Taking one of her hands in his, he too reclines. A strange smile briefly crosses his lips as he considers Narcissa's promise. A part of him cannot help but consider it selfishly, and he thinks of all the ways he could take advantage of such a pledge. But just as quickly as the thought arises, he rejects it, not so much out of his affection for Narcissa, but out of the realization that he need not resort to any sort of machinations to obtain exactly what he wants from her.

Narcissa has surpassed the expectations he had when he first decided to enlist her as an ally in his quest to restore the Kindred as a potent force in the world. She showed no remorse upon discovering that the first victim of her vampiric appetite had been a young police woman. She had already expressed a desire to cull the worst elements of humanity. And, on a personal level, after just one night of passion, she had already demonstrated an equally complete lack of squeamishness in matters of the bedroom. Guillaume begins to gain greater confidence that he can push Narcissa past the limits of any restraint in all these issues and activities.

As the sun rises -- unseen beyond heavy curtains -- Guillaume falls asleep content in the knowledge that Narcissa will indeed "do whatever it takes" to make him happy... not because he demands it, but because that is what she honestly desires.

Belle practically purrs as Dahlia concludes her loving words with an even sweeter kiss. Finally, Belle feels the emotional roller-coaster she has ridden for the past two nights has again steadied itself on its tracks. The fact that Dahlia has agreed to forgo entertaining their guests tonight -- to allow herself and Belle time to begin reestablishing their love -- warms Belle's heart. That warmth quickly spreads to other, equally responsive parts of Belle's anatomy.

Belle pulls her lips from Dahlia's and gently kisses her cheek, whispering, "Thank you, Darling... Thank you for understanding... Thank you for staying here with me tonight."

Belle starts kissing and nibbling at Dahlia's neck and shoulders as she continues, "I owe you so much, really... More than I could ever repay. But for now, at least, I can return one favor you bestowed on me earlier this evening...."

Belle's mouth drifts further down Dahlia's torso, stopping long enough to make Dahlia mew in response to Belle's lips and tongue on Dahlia's soft breasts and hardened nipples.

Then Belle continues slowly kissing and licking her way much further down Dahlia's body, until finally reaching the spot Belle knows will please Dahlia most.
