The hot material of the moment is leather. Will Smith donned a $700

black leather shirt from LA designer

Skin when he won three American

Music Awards (his stylist found the

line at Traffic). At the same event,

Laura Innes of "ER" wore an

image-changing, snug black

lambskin pantsuit by David

Cardona. She liked it so much,

she’s going to buy it.

"It’s all about sex and rock-n-roll,"

says Santa Monica-based Cardona.

"Take Laura Innes—putting on the

tight leather raised her sex appeal."

E!: Hello, Laura Innes. What brings you out tonight?

Laura: I've heard amazing things about this film.

Anything that brings a message of peace, even

through war, is an important thing.

E!: What does Dr. Weaver have in store for Mr.

Clooney?

Laura: Lots of wild sex, I'm sure. Yeah, our characters

are going to get together--not!

E!: Something tells me you could handle it,

though.

Laura: You bet I could, baby!

[Webmistress' note: Gotta love that sense of humor Laura's got!!]

As for the folks who are happy to stay in their scrubs, actress Laura Innes directed tonight's episode of ER. After four years in front of the cameras playing Dr. Kerry Weaver, Innes says she prepared for her stint as director mainly through osmosis.

"You're watching and soaking it up," she says, according to the New York Daily News. "Every day you naturally pick things up."

She also shadowed castmate Anthony Edwards, who's already proven himself capable on both sides of the camera.

"I trailed Tony for a while, then the producers noticed," Innes says. "They very generously opened the door for me."

Tonight's episodes, titled "Power", takes place during a power outage, resulting in "some scenes [that] are very dark, or almost completely black," says Innes. "It's very much about the personal lives of the characters."

Innes, who is locked in at "ER" for three more years, was asked if she's thinking about renewing beyond that point. "That's a long way off," she said. "We'd have to kinda see what's going on. I know I really love my job."
