This train is very posh

One of my odd memories about the trip was how different all of the trains that I traveled on where. Some were ancient and rickety, with an aisle down the center and benches off to the sides. Other trains had the aisle down the side, with small compartments off to the other side. Some had sleep berths, some had just seats. I guess that there must be some way to tell what type of train one would be catching, from the schedules, but I never did figure it out. Although traveling in such a nice compartment was a refreshing way to leave Spain, (and it afforded me some time and privacy to cry over the leave-taking) I think I liked the older trains better – they had a lot more "character" though I don’t know how to explain the appeal any further than that.
