Skinheads
I was surprised at how many skinheads there were in Europe – and that they were so political. Where I grew-up there were skinheads, but it was just an act of rebellion against parents and other authorities as opposed to being a political movement. Until I went to Barcelona I’d no idea that skinheads were neo-nazi’s and were racist and discriminatory. I was shocked.
I was also shocked to see, in several of the antique and curio stores that I went into, Nazi war medals and other insignia. One place had a Nazi trench coat, complete with bullet holes through the back and what appeared to be bloodstains. I was disgusted and horrified. Somehow I had not known that the Nazi’s were venerated by some people.
