Seedling Grafting |
|
I refer to the note in the web site written by a Japanese expert, nicknamed "Rampo" for the seedling grafting. He uses Harrisia jusbertii as the root stock but I use hylocereus undatus. Seedling, around 40 days after germination is the best for my method of the seedling grafting. | |
Root stock, Hylosereus undatus Both of rooted and unrooted stocks are able to use for this method. |
Necessary tools Large craft knife:cutting ribs of stock Small craft knife:cutting stock tip and scion Chopsticks:handling scion Paper cap:Stopping dry up of scion |
Cut ribs, 2 to 3 days before grafting and wait shrinkage. | Cut bottom of seedling Cut tip of stock around 5mm and put sicon on the tip. This sicon is Astrophytum myriostigma v nudum cv red-bean kikko koyo A wet day or evening is vest for this method. |
Put cap on top to prevent dry up | Sicon will be grafted and start growing in a week. Confirm the growing and cut top of cap to give light. |
Remove cap | Now the grafting is secure. You can repot. |
