Gundam Wing: Legend of Mystiks
                                  Chapter 38

Thanks for your observation, but Im quite aware of that.
      Oh . . . okay.
Heero gestured to Airia. Release her.
      Sir?
Heero narrowed his eyes. Are you questioning me?
The lieutenants sword left Airias head. Uh . . . Iie, sir!
Perfect. His attention went to Airia, whod stepped away from the confrontation and was trying to not be noticed. Airia, go home.
      Huh?
Go. Ill meet you there. He bent to pick up the dead men. Ive to make a report to the king.
Airia nodded and left, heading back to the castle where the others surely were by now.
Heero sighed and took off for the Kings Castle, knowing there would be lots of explaining to do.
                                                                  *~*~*
Cosmos woke to warm breath on her cheek. She couldnt see who was holding her because there was long hair in her face that wasnt hers, but upon listening to the breathing pattern surmised that it was Duo. She found herself under a thick, comfortable blanket and on a living pillow. <Can it get any better?>
She started to shift, but discovered that her lips were pressed against the hollow in Duos throat where his pulse could be easily felt. Deciding she liked everything the way it was, Cosmos relaxed and closed her eyes.
      So you
are awake.
Cosmos jumped, but it was just Duo. Hai.
His arms enveloped her even tighter. Daijibou ka?
Cosmos hesitated. <Am I okay? Am I emotionally scarred for the rest of my life? . . . Iie. Im just . . . sad.> Daijibou. <Hold me. Make everything real again.>
As if reading her mind, Duo kissed her nose. How bout we stay here for a while anyway? It cant hurt.
Cosmos snuggled closer. Fine with me.
Duo pulled the blanket up over them again and settled against the chair. <She must be so upset. At least I have Otousan. She doesnt have either parent . . .>
                                                                  *~*~*
Zechs held the confused Halcyon and looked at his father. Is that true?
      Hai.
But you told me I was an orphan! Halcyon cried.
I told you you were left in my care.
Then why didnt they take care of me?!
They did. You dont remember it. You were about five when you were left with me. They are still here, but their jobs didnt allow them to watch you constantly as necessary.
      Can I . . . meet them?
      Mochiron.
Two figures appeared and looked at Halcyon curiously. Halcyon?
Halcyon stood and leapt into her parents arms, though she was about as tall as them. Okaasan! Otousan!
                                                                  *~*~*
      Masaka!
Pyre, I would not lie about this.
I wont believe it! Pyre sensed Wufeis supportive presence behind her and shook her head. You told me they were gone!
They were gone on an errand. An important and long-winded errand that wasnt safe for a child.
Pyre shook her head furiously. Iie!
Come on, Pyre, a new voice said softly. Do you really hate us that much that you wont talk to us?
     Pyres head shot up. Otousan?
Her parents emerged from the shadows nearby and smiled lovingly.
                                                                 *~*~*
Okaasan! Seraph hugged her mother, crying happily. I thought you were dead!
Not me, Seraph. Death is not something that will take me so quickly. Ive still got a few hundred years to go.
      What about Otousan?
That still hasnt quite been resolved. Were pretty sure it was a Killing Soul, but we cant find any of those. I was going to call Shinigami to ask him to search as well, since I asked him to hold his search until further notice, but then this came up and I had to postpone that.
Seraph began to cry quietly. Gomen nasai, Otousan. I was supposed to help . . .
Her mother took her shoulders and shook her roughly. Dame da, Seraph. You know your otousan only wanted you to be happy. Ive taken this upon myself and it only involves you when you want to assist me.
Seraph brushed her tears off onto her sleeves. Hai, youre right. She smiled at her mother. Ill help as soon as the upcoming war is over with.
Her mother nodded. Ill be waiting for that time.
                                                                  *~*~*
Trowa stood by his father and watched Terestria tell her parents about everything that had happened while they were apart. <She forgave them so easily. Could I do that if my parents left me, no matter what the reason?> He looked up at his father, who was still a good foot taller than him. <I suppose so. As long as they were truly happy to see me again.>
      Trowa?
      Hai, Otousan?
Youve been keeping an eye on her, havent you?
Trowa puzzled over this. Dare, Terestria? Anou, hai. Doushite?
Eravur shrugged. You and the others must keep an eye on your guards just as they must keep an eye on you. The girls are, believe it or not, quite sensitive. One bad mistake could ruin their trust. The Earth Controller paused to think. I would say that this upcoming battle will be a true test of your love for them and theirs for you.
Trowa nodded. We are watching them very closely, Otousan. As long as were around, they wont get hurt.
                                                                 *~*~*
Heero dropped the last foot to the soft grassy meadow ground and stood by his father while he watched with a small smile as Airia hugged her parents and began to chatter about everything that had happened. He didnt pay it much attention until Airia spoke.
      You know Heero, right?
He was aware of her parents looking at him. His wings gave a nervous flap and Airia giggled. Oh, come on, Heero. Dont tell me youre shy!
He glared, but it wasnt at its usual intensity. Of course not!
Airia rolled her eyes and made a face as she gave an accurate mimic of his voice. Of course not!
She laughed at his more angry glare. Thats better! She turned back to her parents and pointed to Heero. He normally looks like that.
