Gundam Wing: Legend of Mystiks

                           Chapter 4
[Good one, Cosmos. Add another to the list.]
I didnt kill him! Death cant kill Death!
Halcyon glanced around. [Make that three.]
Cosmos growled. I didnt kill them! Theyre just unconscious!
     [Doushite?]
How should I know?! Cosmos sniffed the air and wrinkled her nose. She looked back at the three remaining knights. Its gas. One of the others is here. You all should get out of here before you collapse too.
It was too late, though. They dropped to the floor as a pegasus, gryphen, and phoenix entered through the wall.
Are you all insane? That formula could cause them brain damage!
Whats wrong with that? the gryphen asked, changing to a human form along with the others.
      You could kill them!
      So?
They dont deserve to die for an innocent mistake, Terestria!
The girl whod been the pegasus snorted. Why are you so upset about them? They havent done anything for you.
They still have many things to do before it is their time, Airia. Theres something different about them, but you all wont acknowledge it. Cosmos bent back over the boy with the long hair.
Why do you say that? the girl, who was previously the phoenix, inquired.
Cosmos looked up. Why do you ask, Pyre? Usually you could care less about those who arent Mystiks, especially men.
     Pyre shrugged. Curiosity. Good mood.
Anou, theres a strange power radiating off them all. This one here--she gestured to the boy in her lap-- is like me. I can feel the Element of Death inside him, though it is dormant, as it is in the others. Cosmos looked at the blond boy, who was laying near her. His powers are easily sensed also. I sense Light from him.
Now that she was free, Seraph wasnt so grudging towards Cosmos. Why is it we can sense their elements better than the others? Surely it cant just be because they are the Primary Elements.
The girls looked at each other for the answer. Their attire was identical to what Cosmos wore, though the colors were different, pertaining to their element. Seraph wore white, Halcyon wore blue, Terestria wore green, Airia wore golden yellow,  Pyre wore red.
They can speak to animals, Seraph said finally, answering her own question. Maybe?
      Maybe, the rest agreed.
Well need to have a meeting about this, Halcyon, being the oldest, decided. Two, in all actuality. One with these males and one without. Well have the one without tomorrow at dintime.
The other girls nodded. Cosmos looked down again. We cant just leave them here.
Youre right, Seraph agreed. Ill help you make sure they wake up all right.
     Cosmos smiled appreciatively. Domo arigatou.
As Seraph and Cosmos transported the boys one at a time to a room, Airia leaned over to Halcyon. How did a lively girl like Cosmos become Death?
She was born that way, like the rest of us were, Airia.
There was a pause as Cosmos and Seraph returned for another boy, then left.
But Halcyon, all Deaths before her have been so sullen, Terestria protested. Thats what my mother told me.
Its the job, Halcyon answered patiently. Making a person die, even if it is their time, is still killing. After a while, the sadness takes its toll on the Death and they detatch themselves from the world. I hope that will never happen to Cosmos. She will be very valuable in the approaching war. We will need her love as much as we will need Seraphs.
A wars coming? Pyre asked. Doushite?
It is not a war of a planetary scale, Halcyon explained. It is one of universal scale.
      Nani?!
Seraph and Cosmos returned in time to hear the surprised cry. Nan da?
Theres a war coming! Terestria yelled. Its coming and Halcyon just told us now!
Im sure its no big deal, Seraph said gently, trying to calm her friends.
      Its universal! Airia almost shrieked.
Cosmos glared at her companions. Calm down! she demanded, her normally quiet voice easily rising above the noise. Okay, she continued, again quiet, let me get this straight. There is a war, of universal proportions, coming here. Everyone nodded at her frantically. And Halcyon just told us. More nodding. All right. Halcyon, do you have any details?
Some semblance of order returned as the calmness of Cosmos settled over them all. Halcyon didnt move any, just spoke. It originated on Klaxar IX between the Restars and Hekatats. They were both primitive in the scientific sense, but now they have discovered space travel and are trying to gather allies from other planets. As they are fighting over territory, they agreed to battle on neutral ground. Guess what planet they chose.
So what is so dangerous about this? I mean, I think I understand, but please confirm my suspicions.
They have no regard for the life on Earth. They will do whatever it takes to win. Which means that they may drop large weaponry and when they run out of rations, they will turn on the things that are as close to their normal meals as they can get.
Humans, Cosmos breathed, understanding completely. Sou ka. Where are they now?
      Tracen VII.
That close? She nodded. Cosmos cursed. How long will it take them to get here?
Not long enough to round up all the other Mystiks. I called in others a few days ago, when I got the news, and sent them out for our kin. Hopefully, we can gather enough to help us defeat them. If not . . .
