Gundam Wing: Legend of Mystiks
                                 Chapter 20

[So they think were stupid, huh?] Pyre inquired angrily.
Seraph kept her from getting up by pinning one wing under her hoof. [They dont understand our job, Pyre. If they did, they wouldnt have said that.]
Suddenly, the army attacked again. The girls shifted to their third form as the guys climbed on their horses to lead the charge. They made their way back to the forest to a cliff where they could get easy lift without drawing unwanted attention.
Cosmos pumped her wings and took off under her own power. [Enjoy yourselves. Ill meet you there.]
[Oi, wait up!] Seraph cried, leaping off the cliff and using the updraft to get altitude. The others followed and soon the battle came into view.
They first looked for the guys, fighting from the backs of their horses. None were injured, to their relief. Calmly, each landed with a soft thud beside their charge.
     All fighting ceased.
With an evil grin, Duo swung his sword up into the air and waved it in a rough circle. Go on, Cosmos! Show em what youre made of!
[Your wish is my command.] Cosmos leapt at the first soldier she saw that wasnt an ally and grabbed his head, giving a swift jerk. There was a sickening pop and the man quit his struggles. She fixed her gleaming turquoise eyes on another enemy soldier and managed to say, Now for the main course! in a scratchy voice before taking off toward him.
On a horse, the man wasnt too frightened. He brought his sword up, ready to behead her, but instead of going for him as he expected, she rammed his horses chest with her own plated one, making the horse grunt and topple over. Then she easily bit down on his neck, snapping it in two.
Looking over, Cosmos saw Deathscythe take a cut to his side and barely keep from falling. She ran over and caught Duo on her back as he slid off the horses back along with the severed saddle. She bit through the bridle and tried to scare the horse, but he was too well trained to be afraid of her. He focused instead on Duos wiggling body and nudged his hip worriedly.
Duo sat up and gave Deathscythes velvety nose a few strokes. Go ahead, Shinigami. Wait for me in the forest. And
dont die. The equine nodded and trotted weakly into the forest as ordered. Duo leaned forward to Cosmos head. Are you ready?
     [Whenever you are!]
      Then lets go!
In the span of a week of non-stop fighting, the Fasanera army realized their skill-lacking men were no match for their opponents. Mentally surrendering under the gaze of six obviously pissed generals, they continued fighting until the animals, after a small gesture from the boys, changed to girls no older than the generals.
Mystiks! was the quiet cry that ran through both sides.
Do you surrender? Heero asked, keeping Wing from smashing in the head of an enemy who was still half-alive.
After a long moment of consideration, the commander let his bloody sword hang down to the ground. We surrender.
The enemy army suddenly surged forward. The ally troops shoved their generals and the Mystiks to the back in a move to protect them. With no remorse, the enemy set the camp on fire.
Regroup! Heero yelled, backing Wing away from the flames that were quickly devouring anything that would burn. The others followed, but none of the troops came.
Thats the last straw, Duo growled. I
wont lose to some assholes who have to resort to tatics like those to win. He stalked back into the camp, Cosmos right behind him.
     The rest agreed and followed.
The Fasanera army had their opponents kneeling on the ground, waiting to be killed. Then there was a cry of disbelief.
Through the flames the six Mystiks walked, each with a slight smirk on her face. They spread out in a long line, plenty of space for another person between them. Their feathered wings were out and curled menacingly, daring anyone to attack them.
There were more gasps at the sight of the girls wings.
     Intrepid Mystiks.
How did this kingdom get such power?
Then behind them, also coming directly through the raging fires, were the six generals. Their capes swung back and forth in a very peculiar manner, as if moving on their own. They came and stood slightly in front of the girls, the same dangerous smirk on their faces.
      Surrendering? the commander asked malevolently.
The boy in yellow let out a harsh laugh. To you?
      Of course me!
Dream on! the one in black said. Go screw yourself!
     The commander grew angry. Archers!
A wave of arrows sailed toward them, but the weapons bounced off an invisible shield around the generals.
      Archers! Secondary targets!
The girls giggled, knowing the commander was talking about them.
Another wave of harmless arrows followed by a third. The commander was getting upset. They werent
doing anything! They just stood there with those smirks and stared at him.
Arent you going to do anything?! the commander screamed at them.
The girls giggled again, followed by snickers from the guys.
You want us to do something? Zechs inquired innocently. Fine!
     The capes suddenly spread wide.
     Not capes.
     Wings.
     More gasps.
Twelve Intrepid Mystiks on one side!
The commander gawked momentarily, then waved boredly. Very nice.
Duo heard a snap, then excrutiating pain radiated from his primary wing bones. He fell to his knees and felt Cosmos immediately come to his side and run her hands gently along the wing bones. In the upper portion, somewhere near the middle, Duo groaned as Cosmos careful fingers moved over the break on each wing.
She cooed soothingly and reached down to his shoulders, somehow sending her power through his armor into his body and numbing all nerves involved with his wings. There. Now get up. Youre all right.
Duo stood, managing to keep his wings out, and grinned evilly through the fading pain. Wasnt much, my dear commander. Youll have to do better than that.
After toying with their enemies minds a while longer, they finally finished them off.
     Total deaths:
     Enemy-all dead
     Ally-none
