| Gundam Wing: Legend of Mystiks Chapter 11 She put out her now free hand, palm up, and focused on the rock. Slowly, she closed her hand, making cracks appear on the rock. Her hand clenched into a fist and the boulder broke into chunks. Then she calmly pointed at Trowa, whose eyes widened in surprise as the boulder pieces headed right for him at an impossible speed. There was no time to escape. Then, just as they were about to hit him, they stopped. Mid-air. Terestria sighed. Weve got a long way to go yet. *~*~* Youre pretty good. Observation is a very important part. Whats the most important? Having the strength to utilize the Element. Hn. Try it again. This time, uproot that tree. Heero braced himself, recalling the surprising strength of the Wind. He focused on the tree and silently called up the swirl of goldish power that hed never noticed until recently. He put his arm out, fingers spread, and then swung that same arm toward the tree, moving down and then up in a digging motion. The wind picked up and turned into a gale, lifting up the dirt from around the tree in large clumps and dropping it beside another tree. The tree, though its roots were completely dug out from under and around it, remained upright as the wind held it. Even though he was braced, Heero was shoved along the ground by the power of the Element. It was better than before, when the sheer force of the wind had knocked him over and sent him rolling, like tumbleweed, right over the edge of the nearby chasm. Airia had responded immediately, running to the chasm edge and sending the wind down after him to catch him. The Element had cradled him as a mother would a child and hed wanted to go to sleep, it had been so comforting. As it was, Heero began to lose his balance yet again. Fortunately, Airia was right there, using her power to turn the wind to give him just enough resistance against his wild, untamed strength to stay in one place. The tree suddenly shot up into the sky and disappeared. It never came back down. Airia, after a moment, giggled. I dont think you needed that much power for one tree. Hn. Another giggle. Youre such a talkative person Heero. Wont you ever shut up? The boy couldnt stop the smirk. Probably not. *~*~* Concentrate! Ore wa! Then youre not doing it well enough! You shouldnt be burning yourself! Wufei growled and focused harder on holding the ball of flame in his hand without letting it touch his palm. Baka onna. I heard that! Pyre snarled. If you dont start cooperating with me Im going to set you on fire and let you burn to death, baka otako! *~*~* Try again. Youve almost got it. Zechs gritted his teeth and refocused on the spume of water. He closed his eyes to block outside distractions and imagined the water becoming a liquid hand and picking Halcyon up. There was a happy laugh. Yatta, Zechs! He opened his eyes and looked up. Two stories above the ground was a hand of water holding Halcyon in the air. She was giddy, laughing like shed just heard the funniest joke in the world. The hand suddenly dissolved and dropped Halcyon into the river. Zechs ran to the bank, ready to dive in, when she popped from the surface, encased in a Water bubble. Gomen nasai. Halcyon smiled. No big deal. Youre very good, considering this is your first try. I was ready. *~*~* Cosmos lifted her head. There it was again. That scratching. She froze. No. Not them. Not now. She looked down at Duo. <Should I wake him? He cant use his power yet. He might get in the way. . . . I have to risk it. If I dont, theyll try to get in here and then itll be impossible to find them all.> She ran to the window and looked down at the Ferals that were using the curved spikes on their knees to climb the wall. She fired a black bolt of lightning-intensity energy, watching in satisfaction as they dropped into the lake. They wouldnt be coming up. She jerked Duos braid as she ran for the door, pulling him right to the floor. Lets go! Whats your problem?! Duo snapped, rubbing the back of his head. Theyre here! Cosmos hissed, fear glinting in her eyes. Hurry! We need to keep them out! Whats here? Ferals! Whatre those? Theyre killers! Theyre mostly the reason why there arent any female Mystiks left and they dont have any qualms with males either! You mean . . . like . . . eating? Hai! Cosmos grabbed his arm and pulled. We have to keep them out of the castle! If they get in here theyll infest the place within an hour! Ferals will be crawling everywhere! She shifted to the dinosaur form, then the dragon form. [On my back! Quickly!] Duo did as he was told and Cosmos took off, taking turns at impossible speeds as she raced for the bridge at the front gate (the castle sat on an island close to the middle of a small but deep lake and the only dry way in was the bridge or by flight). It was being cranked in by the sentries on the walls. How are we going to get across?! [Trust me.] Cosmos leapt from the floor, extending her talons and landing on the wood bridge. She continued up almost horizontally as Duo clung tightly to her back and upon reaching the edge of the bridge spread her wings and pushed off, gliding across the water to land. I dont have my sword! [Swords wont work against them anyway. They are creatures of magic, therefore you must destroy them with magic.] Duo looked at the bank and swallowed hard. There were thousands. |
