Household Inventory....it's better to be safe than sorry!

Household inventory should be taken annually on all of your personal possessions.  In case of loss, an inventory will help you with insurance claims.  Your homeowners policy covers practically all of your personal possessions - but to be reimbursed, each item must be named and given a dollar value.  The following will guide you in listing your personal possessions, and help in determining if they are adequately insured.  Photographs or videosare also an important part of your inventory.  They help to establish the value and physical condition of an item.  That's why it's a good idea to photograph each room from a few different angles, and individually photograph particularly rare or valuable possessions.  Date your photos, save receipts, warranty certificates, and repair invoices.
Please list and describe all of your electronic equipment (including personal computers - PCs - television sets, compact disk players, etc.).  Please be as specific as possible in these descriptions; ie. for a PC, list memory capacity, hard drive capacity, special features, brand names, and so forth.  For a television, list screen size, specify black-and-white or color, indicate if cableready, and so forth. Photographs of these items should also be included.  Remember to update regularly!
When you have completed your inventory, place the photographs and this booklet in a safe deposit box or some other fire-proof location.
