I was talking to a friend of mine one day, and she said "Christine, write a poem about me and [insert name of a jerk]." So I did, and here it is. I know it has taken me awhile, but I had to think about the situation. I hope you enjoy it.
I wanted you to know me for me,
Not the second place trace
That was there just in case.

You sauntered by,
Leaving me to ramble in shambles
And resting in brambles.

Then stare right past,
Looking at the tail that will bail
The second you set sail.

I sit watching shadows,
Waiting to rehearse every terse curse
That was just a verse.

And I see what you do,
And in the heat of my defeat
I still try to compete

I've waited too long,
And I know this vertigo
Holds only woe.

Don't you see?
I need to be me.
It's time to set myself free.
