| It was the early afternoon and the claydoll began to to realize he had made a very serious mistake. He could barely move, barely breath, and pieces of him had fallen off. he turned back to the porchand hoped that he could survive the trip back. He ground his teeth, made his hands into fists and struggled to return to the porch. |
| The little clay doll did not make it to the porch. The old craftsman sighed when he found him the next day dry, hardened, and beginning to crumble. He carried his once-loved figurine back to the porch and set him on the far side of the mantle. Nothing could be done to restore it, but the old craftsman knew the other clay dolls would also want to seek the pleasures and adventures beyond the porch. They would need to see how hardened and brittle they would become if they left the care and protection of the porch. |
