The Grieg presentation was informative and the Valentine's Dat game was a huge hit. Afterwards the was some lively dancing. Salmon dinner was delicious, Karen!

Karen thanked everyone for such a great social for February, and also thanked Laila for doing such a nice job on the profile of Leif and the newsletter.
I read the minutes from our last Board Meeting and they were approved.
Liva reported that we have changed from Bank of American to Sun Trust with our Savings, Checking and Money Market accounts. The new money market account has 5.02% interest. We have $2,030.38 in Savings and $3,026.60 in Checking, but more was going to be added. Liva read a letter she received from NCL Carnival Cruise Ship, thanking us for using them as a Group Cruise and also received a refund check of $1,050.00.
We had 23 people attend the last social, with the raffle we took in $471.00 and made a profit of $162.00. Karen donated the Salmon, potatoes and cake!!! We discussed about changing the initiation fee to $11. We had 2 new members that paid to SON $39; Raidar and Solveig Bakken. Karen discussed maybe adding to our website a Pay Pal, so we can have new members pay directly to us. Karen to check out if there is a cost for this.
Karen made a motion to bring children to the next social and have a coloring contest. The theme would be to draw their favorite animal and prizes will be given out. Karen said she had all the supplies for this, it was passed and 2nd. Karen made a motion for every person that brought in 1 new person they would get three (3) FREE raffle tickets, it was passed and 2nd. Gift certificates were also discussed. We discussed that for some unknown reason we don't have new member initiations any more so from now on we will have a celebration for all new members!!! We want people to submit photos to the newsletter too.
Karen made a motion to sell Norwegian Tee Shirts at our socials it was passed and 2nd. March 24th Social we will be having Norwegian Dance Lessons. We need to get everyone's email addresses at the meeting and we'll set up a suggestion box. In a future event we'll do a business card exchange. Irene and Gerd are going to make Norwegian sandwiches with help from board members before the meeting, Jan to bring the bread and Norwegian kaffe. Karen and Else to bring trays.
Irene checked her clubhouse where she lives for the socials. It has a kitchen and it would cost $50.00. It is in Tamarac between University and Pine Island.
It was discussed that we need to set up a new cruise trip.
Karen, Jan, Irene and Suzan are going to the Walk for the Animals on March 3.
We discussed the viking boat that is in Jan's garage. The trailer and boat needs work and it needs new oars. It would be good moral for the club and we will be able to use it anytime there is a parade or boating event. Karen made a motion to spend what we need to fix the boat up to $1,000. It was passed and 2nd.
As usual everyone is welcome to help decorate for the next social at 9AM the same day.
