Goree' Island, cont. ~
Baobab tree cobblestone walk
Goree' children
Rusted cannons atop Goree
Three small boys paddling a surf board near Goree's port
The building on the left, is the interior section of Goree Island's slave house. This was the last holding cell for thousands of native Africans, who in many cases were bound in metal shackles and forced to wait in one of the dark cells, scared, overcrowded and with little or no food or drink. When a slave ship arrived, the door you see to the left and behind this text was swung open..the slaves were marched aboard and never again touched African soil.
